A method for conducting a worldwide, inexpensive and accessible ECG Holter data scanning, processing, and analyzing system by way of obtaining a Holter recording in a conventional manner, then downloading that analog or digital data to a PC, then going online through the PC by way of an ISP, such as DSL, capable of large data transfer, through a USB to tie into a URL web address for a Central Computing Facility with advanced and multifaceted data analysis capability available for short term licensed use, then downloading the Holter data to that URL, then scanning and analyzing the downloaded data at that Central Facility in real time from the remote site, then choosing which alternative analysis sub programs need be run on the stored data, and finally returning the selected Holter analysis to the remote site and tagging, storing, and archiving the raw ECG data and the patient demographics, along with results of the various analyses performed on that data in the Central Facility archives for future access.

Virtual Holter

A long term ambulatory blood pressure monitor is disclosed in which all elements of the monitor are compactly and inconspicuously contained in/on a cincture housing mounted on an inflatable arm band fixedly and comfortably positioned on the patient arm. System control and display modules are efficiently placed in a flip top mode on the cincture housing itself and alternatively in a wrist watch mode on the patient wrist. Non volatile EEPROM blood pressure data memory is disposed adjacent EPROM system memory and microprocessor controller circuitry on a compact PCB within the cincture housing along with pneumatic motor/pump and solenoid for inflation/deflation of the arm band to obtain systolic/diastolic blood pressure readings via the oscillatory detection method.

Self contained ambulatory blood pressure cincture

A self contained, compact, long term, ambulatory physiological recorder is designed for mounting directly to the body of a patient, immediately adjacent to the organ or system that is to be monitored, and is adhesively and covertly held there in place and comfortably under clothing by the very transducer, skin electrodes that detect the physiological information to be recorded, and thereby increasing continuity and decreasing artifact by obviating the need for numerous and cumbersome, hanging electrode leads as well as unsightly and cumbersome recorder pouches suspended from shoulder straps or belts.

Long-term, ambulatory physiological recorder

An ambulatory physiological computer recorder that includes multiple selective plug and play signal input conditioners, a microprocessor system with operating and analyzing software and a removable memory module for data storage. The removable memory module may consist of any non-volatile memory such as IC memory, magnetic memory, optical memory or magneto-optical memory. The removable memory module used in the recorder excludes operating software; the purpose of the removable memory module in the recorder is only to receive and store acquired data. The recorder uses an alpha-numeric LCD display with control buttons for user interface to enter patient ID and recorder functional perimeters. Both operational and selective analysis software is resident in the microprocessor EEPROM memory. Software is installed in the recorder by transfer from an external source via standard serial or parallel links with applicable connectors, or by a plug-in EEPROM. The recorder includes a patient event button and audible alert transducer. The LCD panel includes a display of time-of-day and various alert or error messages. Patient physiological and demographic data that is stored, during recording and during set up in the removable memory module, is normally transferred to an external analyzer by moving the memory module to an external system, or this data can be downloaded directly via standard data links. The acquired patient data can also be formatted in a report style, either in real time or at the end of a recording to directly drive various output devices.

Modular physiological computer-recorder

A method and apparatus for dynamically estimating the ST segment of a rate varying electrocardiogram by comparing the result yielded from a mathematical relationship between calculated beat averages and a predetermined standard. Typically a table of known heartbeats is made from which means for estimating are created. An average of beat to beat intervals is compared with the means for estimating and the length of the ST segment for any particular beat is derived making it possible to dynamically alter ST segment length for any given heartrate.

Dynamic ST segment estimation and adjustment

A frequency domain signal processing and analysis method and apparatus displays, plots and makes measurements upon electrocardiographic signals (ECG) recorded from the body surface. Both the graphic plots and the numeric parameters measured reveal abnormalities of electrical conduction within the heart thought to be important in the identification of patients at risk of serious disturbances of heart rhythm including sudden death. The invention employs Fourier analysis of short overlapping segments of ECG signal to create a three dimensional map ('spectrocardiogram') whose axes are time, fequency and power thus disclosing changes in the frequency content of the ECG signal over short intervals of time. In additoin to the Fourier analysis itself, the method and apparatus provides a wide choice of user-selectable signal pre-processing, post-processing, display and plotting options as well as performing custom mathematical computations upon the Fourier spectra to distinguish and quantify visually apparent differences between normal and abnormal spectrocardiograms.
