The present invention relates to subtraction imaging. In order provide further improved accuracy of masking images, a device () for digital subtraction imaging is provided comprising an image data input (), a data processor () and an output interface (). 3D image data () of a region of interest of an object is received that comprises a 3D representation of the object based on a reconstruction from a plurality of 2D projection images. Further, a 2D live X-ray image () of the region of interest is received. The 3D image data and the 2D live X-ray image are registered, wherein a matching pose of the 3D image data corresponding to the 2D live X-ray image is determined. A digitally reconstructed radiography is computed from the 3D image data based on the determined matching pose to generate a 2D mask image. For the 2D mask image, current data related to the 2D live X-ray image is used to achieve an adapted 2D mask image, wherein the data related tothe 2D live X-ray image comprises 2D live acquisition parameters and/or data of the 2D live X-ray image. The generated adapted 2D mask is subtracted image from the 2D live X-ray image a digital image highlighting changes in the region of interest is provided.

Subtraction imaging

The present invention relates to a guidance for treatment of a chronic total occlusion. In order to provide improved guidance information for chronic total occlusion treatment, a device () for guidance for treatment of a chronic total occlusion is provided that comprises an image supply (), a data processor () and an output (). The image supply provides a sequence of angiographic images comprising a vascular structure. The data processor detects at least one portion of the vascular structure indicating a total occlusion of a vessel based on the sequence of angiographic images; and determines an image of the sequence of images that shows at least one segment of the vessel next to the total occlusion; and generates guidance image data based on the determined image. The output provides the generated guidance image data. Thus, additional information relating to spatial aspects is provided to the user based on 2D image data.

Guidance for treatment of a chronic total occlusion

The invention relates to a cavity determination apparatus for determining a cavity within an object, in particular, for determining the location and dimensions of a heart chamber within a person without use of electrode contact information. A bendable segment of an introduction element is arranged within the cavity in different arrangements, wherein curves defined by the bendable segment in the different arrangements are determined by a curve determination unit. A cavity reconstruction unit reconstructs the cavity based on the determined curves. Thus, not only single locations within the cavity are acquired and used for reconstructing the cavity, but larger curves. A considerable amount of spatial information can therefore be acquired and used very rapidly. This allows reconstructing the cavity with improved quality in a relatively short time.

Cavity determination apparatus

A device for positioning of an X-ray imaging system. The device comprises a processor configured to obtain 3D image data of a spine region of interest of a subject comprising a spine structure. The processor is further configured to select at least one vertebra of the spine structure as target vertebra; segment the target vertebra in the 3D image data including identifying at least one anatomic feature of the target vertebra; define a position of a predetermined reference line based on a spatial arrangement of the at least one anatomic feature; determine a target viewing direction of the X-ray imaging system based on the predetermined reference line; and provide the target viewing direction for the X-ray imaging system.

The present invention relates to positioning of stents or other medical interventional devices. In order to provide an improved marker detection suitable for smaller markers, a device () for positioning a medical interventional device is provided. The device comprises a data input interface (), a data processing unit () and a data output interface (). The data input interface is configured to provide at least one image of a region of interest of a subject. In the at least one image, at least a part of a guiding apparatus for a medical interventional device is arranged in the region of interest, which part of the guiding apparatus comprises at least one apparatus position marker visible in the at least one image. Further, in the at least one image, a medical interventional device is arranged at least partly in the region of interest, which medical interventional device comprises device position markers, which are less visible in the image than the at least one apparatus position marker. The data processing unit is configured to detect the at least one apparatus position marker in the at least one image, and to define a proximity region in the at least one image based on the at least one apparatus position marker, and to select the proximity region, to detect the device position markers in the proximity region, and to enhance the device position markers in the at least one image for supporting a positioning of the medical interventional device. The data output interface is configured to provide the at least one image with the enhanced device position markers.

Stent positioning

An apparatus for determining a functional index for stenosis assessment of a vessel is provided. The apparatus comprises an input interface () and a processing unit (). The input interface is configured to obtain image data () representing a two-dimensional representation of a vessel (). The processing unit () is configured to determine a course of the vessel () and a width (w, w) of the vessel along its course in the image data and is further configured to determine the functional index for stenosis assessment of the vessel based on the width of the vessel in the image data.

Apparatus for determining a functional index for stenosis assessment

A system (IPS) for supporting image-based navigation, comprising: an input interface (IN) for reviving one or more input images acquired by an X-ray imager (IA) whilst two or more medical devices (GW, GW) are present in a field of view (FoV) of the X-ray imaging apparatus. An image identifier (ID) identifies the two or more medical devices based on image information in the one or more images. A tagger (TGG) associates a respective, unique, tag with each of at least two of the two or more medical devices (GW, GW) so identified. Persistent guide wire identification

The invention relates to a navigation assistance system for assisting in navigating an interventional instrument within a subject. An implanted object opening model () and a vessel opening model () are generated based on a provided interventional image data set, wherein the models define a respective position, shape and dimension in a frame of reference. These models and a position, which is also provided in the frame of reference, and optionally also a shape () of the interventional instrument are used for generating a graphical representation showing the implanted object opening model, the vessel opening model and the provided position and optionally shape of the interventional instrument, thereby providing guidance for a physician, which allows the physician to relatively easily navigate the interventional instrument such that it is moved through the opening of the implanted object and through the opening of the vessel.

Navigation assistance system

An OSS animated display system for an interventional device () including an integration of one or more optical shape sensors and one or more interventional tools. The OSS animated display system employs a monitor () and a display controller () for controlling a real-time display on the monitor () of an animation of a spatial positional relationship between the OSS interventional device () and an object (). The display controller () derives the animation of the spatial positional relationship between the OSS interventional device () and the object () from a shape of the optical shape sensor(s).

Intravascular ultrasound imaging

The present invention relates to annotating a medical image. For an improved manual insertion of information in a medical image, it is provided to display an image () of a tubular structure; and to display a graphical representation () of at least one segmented portion of the tubular structure; wherein the graphical representation comprises at least one indicator line representing the portion's shape and/or extension; and wherein the graphical representation is displayed in combination with the image of the tubular structure; and to generate and display at least one marker () overlaid to the image of the tubular structure; wherein the marker is movable () along the graphical representation; and to position the marker at a location along the graphical representation to indicate a predetermined feature of the tubular structure.

A system, device, and method for visualizing vascular structures is disclosed. According to some implementations, in order to provide further improved digital subtraction angiography, a device for visualizing vascular structures is provided that includes a data provision processor, an image processor, and an output. The data provision processor is configured to provide a first sequence of non-contrast X-ray images of a region of interest of a patient for use as raw X-ray mask images. The data provision processor is also configured to provide a second sequence of contrast X-ray images of the region of interest of a patient for use as raw X-ray live-images. The image processor is configured to perform a first spatial subtraction for the first sequence of non-contrast X-ray images resulting in a first sequence of spatial-subtracted mask images. The image processor is also configured to perform a second spatial subtraction for the second sequence of contrast X-ray images resulting in a second sequence of spatial-subtracted X-ray live-images. The image processor is further configured to perform a temporal subtraction by subtracting the spatial-subtracted mask images from the spatial-subtracted X-ray live-images resulting in a sequence of spatial-temporal subtracted X-ray live-images. The output is configured to output the sequence of spatial-temporal subtracted X-ray live-images.

Visualizing vascular structures

An information retrieval system (IPS). The system comprises an input interface (IN) for receiving a query related to an object of interest. A concept mapper (CM) is configured to map the query to one or more associated concept entries of a hierarchic graph data structure (ONTO). The entries in said structure encode linguistic descriptors of components of a model (GM) for said object (OB). A metric-mapper (MM) is configured to map the query to one or more metric relationship descriptors. A geo-mapper (GEO) is configured to map said concept entries against the geometric model linked to the hierarchic graph data structure to obtain spatio-numerical data associated with said linguistic descriptors.
