Provided herein is a method of preparing anode slurries of lithium-ion batteries. The silicon-based material is uniformly dispersed prior to mixing with other components of the anode slurry. The method disclosed herein is capable of avoiding agglomeration of nano-sized silicon-based material and effectively dispersing the nano-sized silicon-based material uniformly in anode slurries. Anodes coated with the anode slurries disclosed herein also show an improvement in the electrical conductivity.

Method of preparing battery anode slurries

Provided herein is an electrode assembly of lithium-ion battery, comprising at least one anode, at least one cathode and at least one separator interposed between the at least one anode and at least one cathode, wherein the water content of the electrode assembly is less than 20 ppm by weight, based on the total weight of the electrode assembly.

Provided herein is a method for preparing a ternary cathode material for lithium-ion battery by a static mixer, wherein the cathode material comprises a lithium multi-metal composite oxide represented by xLiMnO.(1-) LiNiMnCoAlO, where 0&#x2264;a&#x3c;1, 0&#x2264;b&#x3c;1, 0&#x2264;c&#x3c;1, a+b+c&#x2264;1, and 0&#x2264;x&#x3c;1. The cathode material disclosed herein exhibits a high initial specific capacity, possesses good safety characteristics and shows excellent capacity retention.

Method of preparing cathode material for secondary battery

Provided herein is a lithium-ion battery cathode slurry, comprising: a cathode active material, a conductive agent, a binder material, and a solvent, wherein the cathode active material has a particle size D50 in the range from about 10 &#x3bc;m to about 50 &#x3bc;m, and wherein the slurry coated onto a current collector having a wet film thickness of about 100 &#x3bc;m has a drying time of about 5 minutes or less under an environment having a temperature of about 60&#xb0; C. to about 90&#xb0; C. and a relative humidity of about 25% to about 40%. The cathode slurry disclosed herein has homogeneous ingredient dispersion and quick drying capability for making a lithium-ion battery with high quality and consistent performance. In addition, these properties of the cathode slurry increase productivity and reduce the cost of manufacturing lithium-ion batteries.

Anode slurry for lithium ion battery

Provided herein is a method for recycling lithium-ion batteries in a polar solvent such as an aqueous media or water. The method disclosed herein isolates a mixture of anode and cathode materials from waste lithium-ion batteries. The separated electrode materials can easily be collected with high recovery rate, providing a rapid, efficient and low-cost method for recycling electrode materials from waste lithium-ion batteries.

Separator for secondary battery

Provided herein is electrode assembly for a nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery, comprising at least one anode, at least one cathode and at least one separator interposed between the at least one anode and at least one cathode, wherein the at least one anode comprises an anode current collector and an anode electrode layer, and the at least one cathode comprises a cathode current collector and a cathode electrode layer, wherein each of the cathode and anode electrode layers independently has a void volume of less than 35%, and wherein each of the at least one cathode and anode independently has a peeling strength of 0.15 N/cm or more.

Provided herein is a battery module for starting the engines of outdoor power equipment such as automobiles, boats, trucks and tractors. The battery module disclosed herein has high performance at low temperature and has a maximum pulse discharging current measured at &#x2212;30&#xb0; C. of not less than 15% of the maximum pulse discharging current measured at 25&#xb0; C. over a pulse discharge period of about 5 seconds. In addition, the battery module disclosed herein has a low self-discharging rate at both room temperature and high temperature. The capacity retention of the battery module is not less than 85% of its initial capacity after 7 months of room temperature storage.

Asymmetric separator for secondary battery

Provided herein is a method of drying an electrode assembly of lithium-ion battery, comprising drying the electrode assembly in two successive stages under vacuum at elevated temperature; filling the oven with hot, dry air or inert gas; repeating the steps of vacuum drying and gas filling several times. The method disclosed herein is particularly suitable for drying electrode assemblies using aqueous binders.
