A straddle type vehicle comprises a steering mechanism configured to steer a front wheel; a steering damper device capable of variably generating a damping force working on a rotating action of the steering mechanism; and a control unit configured to control the damping force of the steering damper device. The control unit controls the damping force, based on a change amount per unit time of steering torque generated in the steering mechanism and a deceleration of the front wheel.

Straddle type vehicle and control unit for steering torque damping

To prevent a reduction in engine load detection accuracy due to variations in reluctor size within mass production tolerances, an engine control unit includes a pulse generator PC that detects a reluctor to output crank pulses. An angular velocity calculating unit calculates a first crank angular velocity on the basis of an interval between two crank pulses output in a predetermined section near compression top dead center TDC, and detects near overlap top dead center OLP the same reluctor used for calculating the first crank angular velocity to calculate a second crank angular velocity on the basis of an interval between generated two crank pulses. An engine load estimating unit calculates, as an engine load, a difference between the first crank angular velocity and the second crank angular velocity. The engine load is indicated mean effective pressure over a whole cycle including negative work done by the engine.

Engine control unit

A vehicle intake duct surrounds a high-flow intake passage, which ensures flow capacity and does not spatially restrict other components. The vehicle includes an engine attached to a vehicle body frame, with the intake duct interconnecting an air cleaner and a throttle body, a transmission for sending engine output to wheels, and a seat mounted on an upper longitudinal frame section of the vehicle body frame. The air cleaner is also provided on the upper longitudinal frame section forward of the seat. The intake duct includes a first extending portion descending rearwardly and downwardly from an outlet of the air cleaner and passing laterally of the throttle body, a curved portion extending rearwardly from the first extending portion and toward a center of the vehicle body frame, and a second extending portion wound around toward a rear portion of the throttle body and connected thereto.

A saddle-ride three-wheeled vehicle has a fuel cell which generates an electric power by a chemical reaction between a fuel gas and a reaction gas. The three-wheeled vehicle includes a drain pipe which guides water discharged from the fuel cell out of a vehicle body; a rear body to which a pair of left and right rear wheels are journaled; and a linking mechanism which swingably links the rear body and a front body to allow the front body to sway left and right with respect to the rear body, wherein the drain pipe has a drain port between the pair of left and right rear wheels.

Saddle-ride type fuel cell three-wheeled vehicle

An intake structure in a fuel cell powered vehicle including a fuel cell using air and hydrogen as fuels, a supercharger for compressing the outside air and outputting the compressed air, a humidifier for humidifying the air compressed by the supercharger, a bypass passage for connecting the supercharger and the fuel cell to each other, and a bypass valve for opening and closing the bypass passage. The bypass valve is disposed on the outside relative to a straight line Tconnecting between the supercharger and the humidifier, and is disposed in the vicinity of the supercharger and the humidifier. With this configuration supercooling of a humidifier can be prevented, while eliminating the need for a warming member for the humidifier. Further, the intake system members can be efficiently arranged in the vehicle, while suppressing the pressure loss in the intake system.

Intake structure in fuel cell powered vehicle, and motorcycle with fuel cell mounted thereon

A variable compression ratio engine includes a control actuator which has a simple structure, seals well internally, and provides high reliability. In the variable compression ratio engine, a connecting rod is divided into at least two portions. A control rod is operatively connected to a juncture of the connecting rod. A support shaft position of the control rod is displaced. The control rod is operatively connected to a right cylinder rod of a piston-type double-acting hydraulic control cylinder. A piston section of the hydraulic control cylinder is configured to selectively move in accordance with displacement of the support shaft position of the control rod. A channel is used to connect two hydraulic chambers divided by the piston section. The channel is configured to selectively control the flow of hydraulic fluid from the right hydraulic chamber to the left hydraulic chamber, and vice versa.
