An electrical connector assembly terminal modules configured to contain electrical terminals connected to one or more electrical cables, an inner module frame in which terminal modules are secured, and an outer housing having cantilevered locking arms with primary surfaces and secondary surfaces on inner sides of the locking arms to secure the inner module frame to the female outer housing. Latch surfaces of the inner module frame engage the primary surfaces when the inner module frame is inserted within the female outer housing. The female outer housing receives a header having side walls surrounding mating electrical terminals. The locking arms define ramp features on outer sides of the locking arms that push the locking arms inwardly when the side walls contact the ramp features of the locking arms as the header is inserted within the outer housing. A method of assembling such an electrical connector is also provided.

Connector assembly with flexible lock and event driven wedge

An electrical connector assembly includes a first connector body, a male terminal stabilizer disposed within the first connector body that is movable from a pre-staged position to a full staged position, a second connector body, means for retaining the male terminal stabilizer in the pre-staged position until the second connector body is inserted within the first connector body, means for releasing the male terminal stabilizer from the pre-stage position and allow the second connector body to push the male terminal stabilizer to the full staged position, means for returning the male terminal stabilizer from the full staged position to the pre-staged when the second connector body is withdrawn from the first connector body, and means for retaining the male terminal stabilizer in the first connector body as the second connector body is withdrawn from the first connector body.

An electrical connector system includes a first connector body defining a locking fin, a second connector body configured to receive the first connector body, and a flexible locking arm defined by the second connector body configured to releasably engage the locking fin. A plunger is slidably attached to the second connector body and is moveable from an engaged position in which the plunger holds the locking arm in engagement with the locking fin to a disengaged position in which the plunger disengages the locking arm from the locking fin. A spring is disposed between the plunger and the second connector body and is configured to urge the plunger into the engaged position.

A connector comprises a connector body having a mating interface configured to engage a complementary mating connector, a first indicator feature carried by the connector body, the first indicator feature having a first partial visual identifier disposed thereon, and a second indicator feature carried by the connector body having a second partial visual identifier disposed thereon, wherein the first and second indicator features are movable relative to each other between a separated position and a joined position, characterized in that the first and second indicator feature form a complete visual identifier only when in the joined position, wherein the first and second indicator features are in the separated position when the connector body is not fully mated relative to the mating connector, and wherein the first and second indicator features are in the joined position responsive to the connector body being fully mated to the mating connector.

Connector assembly with a connector position assurance indicator

A connector apparatus including a housing, and a primary lock reinforcement. The housing includes at least one substantially cylindrical coaxial cavity therein. The coaxial cavity has a first end, a second end, and a locking finger. At least one stop is located proximate the second end. A locking finger is positioned intermediate the first end and the second end. The locking finger includes a locking tab, and an unlocking surface. The locking finger is formed to be flexible and capable of flexing between a lock position and an unlock position. The locking finger is biased toward the lock position. The primary lock reinforcement is placed in the housing and has an opening therein corresponding to the second end of the cylindrical coaxial cavity.

Primary locks with terminal serviceablity features for mixed connection coaxial cables

A split housing connector assembly provides integrated terminal position assurance and an independent secondary lock and includes a nosepiece and a rear housing. In a pre-lock configuration, a plurality of wire terminal bays are aligned to allow insertion of wire terminals and wherein in a locked configuration the rear housing is displaced relative to the nosepiece offsetting the wire terminal bays and blocking removal of the wire terminals. The rear housing engages the nosepiece along a cam track to guide relative movement during assembly.

A sealed connector assembly includes a female connector having an inner wall, an outer wall substantially parallel to the inner wall, and a resilient seal circumferentially extending from the inner wall and a male connector having a shroud extending parallel to the mating axis and a male blade stabilizer (MBS) moveable from a pre-staged position to a fully staged position and back to the pre-staged position. The MBS is configured to move from the pre-staged position to the fully staged position as the shroud is received between the outer wall and the resilient seal, thereby disposing the MBS between the inner and outer walls and retaining the resilient seal in an intended location. The MBS remains engaged to female connector until the shroud is withdrawn from between the outer wall and the resilient seal, thereby retaining the resilient seal in the intended location as the male connector is unmated.

A connector assembly includes a connector housing defining a cavity, a cylindrical terminal disposed within the cavity, a primary terminal locking feature configured to retain the cylindrical terminal within the cavity, and a secondary terminal locking feature configured to retain the cylindrical terminal within the cavity. The secondary terminal locking feature has a pair of arms defining concave features that engage the cylindrical terminal as the concave features of the pair of arms are wedged between the cylindrical terminal and inner walls of the cavity.

An electrical connector assembly includes a connector body defining a terminal cavity therein and a male terminal projecting along a terminal axis to a tip and secured within the terminal cavity by a primary lock feature. The electrical connector assembly also includes a terminal stabilizer defining an aperture that is disposed within the connector body and is moveable from a pre-staged position to a staged position. The electrical connector assembly further includes a primary lock retaining feature that is integrated with the terminal stabilizer and is configured to engage the primary lock feature as the terminal stabilizer moves from the pre-staged position to the staged position.

Electrical connector assembly having a male blade stabilizer with integrated primary lock reinforcement

A connector assembly includes a connector body defining a terminal cavity configured to receive a terminal therein and extending along a longitudinal mating axis. The connector assembly also includes a compliant seal peripherally surrounding the connector body. The connector assembly further includes a retainer that peripherally surrounds a portion of the connector body and is movable to a first position in which the retainer inhibits movement of the seal along the mating axis and allows insertion of the terminal within the terminal cavity. The retainer is further movable from the first position to a second position in which the retainer inhibits movement of the seal along the mating axis while also inhibiting removal of the terminal from the terminal cavity. A method of assembling a connector is also presented.

Connector with integrated seal retainer and secondary terminal lock

A connector assembly comprises a resilient primary lock for securing a wire terminal with a housing, a primary lock reinforcement (PLR) device, and a PLR actuator for moving the PLR device between pre- and fully-staged configurations. The PLR device is configured to move in response to contact by the PLR actuator as the housing components are mated together. The PLR actuator includes an elongated, tapered finger that wedges against the PLR device during housing mating. A method of reinforcing a primary lock of a connector assembly is also described.

An electrical connector includes first and second housing portions that are secured to one another and respectively provide an aperture and a hole. The aperture is configured to receive a terminal of a wire. The hole is configured to receive the wire. The first housing portion includes a face that is configured to mate with another connector that carries another terminal that is engageable with the terminal. A seal is captured between the first and second housing portions and is configured to engage the other connector.

A connector assembly includes a first-connector-housing, an inner-housing, a terminal-stabilizer, and a second-connector-housing. The inner-housing is disposed within a cavity defined by the first-connector-housing. The inner-housing includes an opposed flexible-lock moveable from a locked-position to an unlocked-position. The terminal-stabilizer is disposed within the cavity and is movable from a pre-stage-position to a seated-position. The terminal-stabilizer defines a stop configured to engage an end of the opposed flexible-lock when the opposed flexible-lock is in the locked-position. The second-connector-housing includes an unlocking-feature configured to move the opposed flexible-lock from the locked-position to the unlocked-position. When the second-connector-housing is mated with the first-connector-housing the unlocking-feature moves the opposed flexible-lock to the unlocked-position, whereby the stop on the terminal-stabilizer moves past the opposed flexible-lock and the second-connector-housing moves the terminal-stabilizer from the pre-stage-position to the seated-position.
