A high voltage electrical connection includes an electrical receptacle connector and a mating electrical plug connector. The electrical receptacle connector includes a receptacle that is mounted over a hole in the casing and fastened thereto with a plurality of terminated electrical leads that are attached to an internal component of an electrical device inside the casing and threaded through a hole in the casing. The receptacle has a chamber including an inlet at one end that is aligned with the hole in casing and an outlet at the other end. The electrical receptacle connector also includes a terminal holder and a terminal housing, both of which are made of electrical insulation material. The holder retains the plurality of terminals, of the respective leads is inserted into the chamber through the outlet of the receptacle and retained in the chamber. The terminal housing is then inserted into the chamber via the outlet with its flange being disposed in the outlet. The flange has a plurality of spaced holes, each one of which receives one of the plurality of terminals. Flange includes a stop to locate the terminal housing with respect to the receptacle in a longitudinal direction of the terminals, and an integral shroud that extends outwardly of the outlet whereby the electrical receptacle connector is adapted to receive the mating plug connector. The mating electrical plug connector which includes a plurality of terminals each attached to one of a plurality of electrical leads, a connector body housing the plurality of terminals, a terminal position assurance (TPA)/wire dress feature for the plurality of terminals and electrical leads, and an, electromagnetic interference (EMI) shield.

High voltage electrical connection

A CPA device located entirely on a first connector of a pair of interfitting connectors, wherein the CPA device is actuable only in the event that the two connectors are actually mated. A slide slides between a prestaged position and a staged position. The latter position is attained only upon release of a CPA actuation lock which automatically occurs upon mating of the connectors. The slide is then slid to the staged position, whereat the slide interferes with a clasp mechanism of the connectors so as to prevent unintentional release of the clasp mechanism.

Connector position assurance device

A filtered electrical connector has a die cast aluminum housing that is mounted to a printed circuit board for attaching wiring harnesses to the printed circuit board for transmitting electrical signals to and from the circuitry of the printed circuit board. The die cast housing has six compartments that have a socket on the bottom of the housing for receiving the end connector of one of the wiring harnesses. A plastic retainer that holds several contact pins is secured in the lower portion of each compartment. A plated plastic filter insert having an anistropic substrate and surface mounted capacitors is encapsulated in an enlarged upper portion of each compartment. The contact pins extend through the filter insert and a ferrite block that is embedded above the filter insert. The ferrite block is covered by an insulation sheet to avoid short circuits in the printed circuit board and protect against bent pins.

Filtered electrical connector

A high density seal connector for use in an automotive vehicle. The connector includes a strain relief member when the strain relief member has an outer frame which in part defines the connector. The strain relief member further includes a protective inner cover which is attached to an inside surface of the frame. The inner cover also includes an inside surface and an outside surface which has a plurality of orifices therethrough. The connector also includes a resilient seal member which is molded directly to the inside surface of the inner cover. The seal member includes a plurality of seal plugs which fill a predetermined number of the orifices of the inner cover.

Co-molded seal and strain relief for automotive electrical connections

An electrical connector assembly and method for making it. The assembly has a housing and two slides that are slideably supported in the housing spaced apart from the housing's side walls. The slides each include at least one mating slot adapted to receive a mating portion of a mating connector. A slide assist lever is pivotally interconnected with the housing and the slides to move the slides and facilitate mating with the mating connector. The slide assist lever has a first arm and a spaced apart second arm, the first arm extending between the first slide and the adjacent side wall of the housing, and the second arm extending between the second slide and the adjacent side wall of the housing. The connector assembly can be assembled by inserting the arms of the slide assist lever into the housing to a predetermined assembly position; supporting the slide assist lever with a portion of the housing in the assembly position; inserting the slides into the housing; and moving the slide assist lever from the assembly position into engagement with the slides wherein a portion of each arm of the slide assist lever mates with a portion of each slide.

Electrical connector assembly

A pre-staged electrical connector system including mutually seatable first and second connector halves. A female terminal retainer is seated in the first connector half, having a front face, a rear face and a plurality of terminal cavities for each receiving a portion of a terminal, wherein the terminal has an annular abutment. A plurality of flexible locking fingers extend from the front face, each straddling two adjacent terminal cavities. Each flexible locking finger includes a pair of spaced apart locking shoulders, one for each straddled terminal cavity, each locking shoulder having a terminus. When the female terminal is passed into a terminal cavity from the rear face, the terminus of the locking shoulder thereat interferingly abuts the terminal abutment, thereby preventing rearward withdrawal of the female terminal through the rear face. A secondary lock system is provided wherein at least one arm is positioned on at least one groove of the terminal retainer so as to abut the terminal abutment of any terminals received into the terminal retainer. A slide assist system is provided for assisting seating of the first and second connector halves, wherein a first pre-stage retains the first connector half configured for initial seatin, thereinto by the second connector half, and wherein at a second pre-stage, the first and second connector halves are intermediately seated, mutually held together, and the slide assist system is operable to provide full seating of the first and second connector halves.

Pre-staged dual lock multi-row electrical connection system

A female electrical connector (,) having a connector position assurance (CPA) component (,) which is permanently captured thereto. A female electrical connector includes a prestage CPA lock mechanism (,) composed of a lock seat (,) formed in a CPA component (,) interfaced with a torsional lock (,) of the female electrical connector. The torsional lock is composed of a prestage lock finger (,) having a lock boss (,), a prestage lock release finger (,) and a torsion pivot (,) connected with a slide assist cover (,) of the female electrical connector and joined with both the prestage lock finger and the prestage lock release finger. The lock boss is interferingly received in the lock seat while the slide assist cover is at a prestaged position, and the lock boss moved out of the lock seat responsive to the slide assist cover reaching a staged position.

Captured connector assurance component for an electrical connector

An electrical connector system including a terminal retainer having a plurality of terminal receiving cavities formed therein and aligned in a rectilinear pattern of rows and columns. The terminal retainer includes a front face, an opposite rear face and a plurality of terminal cavities extending from the rear to the front face. Each terminal cavity receives a portion of a terminal, wherein the terminal has an annular abutment. A plurality of flexible locking fingers are provided which extend from the front face, each being positioned to straddle two adjacent terminal cavities. Each flexible locking finger includes a pair of spaced apart locking shoulders, one for each straddled terminal cavity, each locking shoulder having a terminus. When the female terminal is passed into a terminal cavity from the rear face, the terminus of the locking shoulder thereat interferingly abuts the terminal abutment, thereby preventing rearward withdrawal of the female terminal through the rear face. A secondary lock system is provided wherein at least one arm is positioned on at least one groove of the terminal retainer so as to abut the terminal abutment of any terminals received into the terminal retainer. A repair method according to the present invention provides for removal and replacement of the female terminals after prior assembly, wherein the flexible locking fingers provide enough surface between each adjacent pair of terminals for an elongated, thin shafted repair tool to flex the locking finger to release the female terminals held thereby when desired.

Repair method for dual lock multi-row electrical connector system

A magnet set forth used is in a drain plug. A drain plug is assembled with an attached holder securing an inserted cylindrical magnet. The drain plug is formed of non ferrous material such as brass, aluminum, stainless steel, etc. It is constructed in accordance with industry standards to fit as a replacement device in oil drain pans, and is non ferrous material. It incorporates an extending threaded shaft. The holder is constructed with an axial passage there through having threads at the small end for threading through the drain plug. The passage extends fully through the device, interrupted by a transverse internal registration shoulder at the middle, and defines an extending skirt fitting loosely around an elongate cylindrical rare earth magnet. Also, a dipstick mounted version for small engines is shown and places the magnet on the dipstick in a magnet holder.

Magnetic drain plug

An electrical connector system including a terminal retainer having a plurality of terminal receiving cavities formed therein and aligned in a rectilinear pattern of rows and columns. The terminal retainer preferably has a block like configuration including a front face and opposite rear face and a plurality of terminal cavities extending from the rear to the front face. Each terminal cavity is constructed and arranged to receive a portion of a terminal, wherein the terminal has an annular abutment. A plurality of flexible locking fingers are provided which extend from the front face of the female terminal retainer, each being positioned to straddle two adjacent terminal cavities. Each flexible locking finger includes a pair of spaced apart locking shoulders, one for each straddled terminal cavity, each locking shoulder having a terminus. When the female terminal is passed into a terminal cavity from the rear face, the terminus of the locking shoulder thereat interferingly abuts the terminal abutment, thereby preventing rearward withdrawal of the female terminal through the rear face of the female terminal retainer. A secondary lock system is provided wherein at least one arm is positioned on at least one groove of the terminal retainer so as to abut the terminal abutment of any terminals received into the terminal retainer.

Dual lock for multi-row electrical connector system

An electrical connector comprising: a housing assembly (328, 318) having at least one slot (562) extending substantially therethrough; a releasable positive stop (636, 638) on the housing assembly; at least one lock (632) on the housing assembly; a slide assembly (312 and 314) slidably received within the at least one slot; and at least one locking wall (650) on the slide assembly, wherein, in initial engagement of the slide assembly to the housing assembly where the slide assembly is slid into the at least one slot in an engagement direction, the positive stop prevents movement of the slide assembly beyond a prestage state, wherein, in the prestage state, the lock engages the locking wall preventing disengagement of the slide assembly from the prestage state. Thus, an advantageous prestage state of the electrical connector is achieved. When the positive stop is released and a mating connector is aligned with the electrical connector, force applied to the slide assembly in the engagement direction moves the slide assembly past the prestage state to fully engage the housing assembly and to force the mating connector into full engagement with the electrical connector.

An electrical connector comprising: an outer housing including a plurality of receptacles; a cavity within the outer housing; a first inner housing within the cavity, wherein the first inner housing includes a first plurality of flexible extensions on a first end of the first inner housing; a first plurality of cylindrical openings within the first inner housing; a first plurality of conductive terminals, wherein a portion of each conductive terminal of the first plurality of conductive terminals extends through one of the cylindrical openings of the first plurality of cylindrical openings and out of the first inner housing and is received in one of the receptacles of the plurality of receptacles, wherein each conductive terminal of the first plurality of conductive terminals is maintained locked in place by a corresponding one flexible extension of the first plurality of flexible extensions; and a plurality of access holes on the outer housing, wherein each receptacle has located proximate thereto one of the access holes, wherein each flexible extension of the first plurality of flexible extensions includes a first deflection ramp aligned with one of the access holes, wherein, when a tool is inserted through one of the access holes and forced against the aligned first deflection ramp, the corresponding conductive terminal of the first plurality of conductive terminals is released and no longer maintained locked in place by the corresponding one flexible extension of the first plurality of flexible extensions.

An electrical connector system including a first and second connector housing wherein the first connector housing made from a die cast metal. The first connector housing includes a base portion having a plurality of through holes formed therein and a shroud extending from the base portion and surrounding the plurality of through holes. The shroud forming a socket to receive projections extending from the second connector housing in the mating direction of the connector housings, and wherein the first connector housing is connected to an electronic device having a plurality of electrical terminal pins extending through the through holes for engaging female terminals carried in the projections of the second connector housing. An insert member is snap fitted into the first connector housing and includes an elongated flexible locking finger extending in the mating direction of the connector housings and having a locking shoulder extending generally perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of locking finger for lockable engagement with a lock shoulder on the second connector housing so that the first and second connector housings may be temporarily connected together in a pre-staged position. The first and second connector housings having a primary lock mechanism that may be engaged, after the connector housings are coupled together in the pre-states position, to coupled the first and second connector housings in a final fixed position wherein the electrical terminal to pins are fully engaged with the female terminals.

An electrical connector comprising: an outer housing; a cavity within the outer housing; a inner housing within the cavity; a plurality of cylindrical openings within the inner housing, a plurality of conductive female terminals, wherein a portion of each conductive female terminal extends through one of the cylindrical openings; a channel on an end of the inner housing; and a lock bar in the channel, maintaining the plurality of conductive female terminals in place.
