A valve includes a fluid inlet passage having a fluid inlet, a fluid outlet passage, an orifice between the fluid inlet passage and the fluid outlet, and a moveable valve plug adapted to move with respect to the orifice to vary the flow of fluid between the fluid inlet passage and the fluid outlet passage. A movable valve stem is attached to the valve plug and a travel limiting device is attached to the valve stem. The travel limiting device permits the valve to be placed in one of a plurality of desired flow configurations.

A replaceable valve seat ring for a valve assembly has an annular ring body and an open flow passage extending through the ring body. A seating surface is provided on the ring body adjacent one end of the flow passage. A tool accepting region of the flow passage is formed concentric with and at least partially along the flow passage. The tool accepting region is adapted to receive a standard tool head therein for installing and removing the valve seat ring.

A valve assembly has a valve body having an inlet passageway and an outlet passageway. A flow orifice is disposed within valve body and provides flow communication between the inlet passageway and outlet passageway. A valve seat cooperates with the flow orifice and a variable port valve plug to open and close the valve. The valve plug has a plug body with a conically-shaped smooth tapered wall, a proximal end, and a domed distal end surface that smoothly transitions into the tapered wall. The valve plug is movable between an open position out of contact with the valve seat and a closed position borne against the valve seat. A maximum open position of the valve plug relative to the valve seat can be selectively changed to vary flow characteristics through the valve assembly.

A valve with an integral means for bleeding internal pressure prior to separation of a bonnet for the valve from its engagement with the valve body, provided by a bore through the valve body. This allows the internal pressure of the valve to equalize with atmospheric pressure prior to complete disassembly of the bonnet from the valve body. The bore through the valve body also serves as a leak detector, by providing a path for fluids passing through the valve to leak to the exterior of the valve body in the event of a failure of the seal between the bonnet and the valve body, which can readily be detected by passersby upon inspection of the exposed end of the bore at the exterior of the valve body.

A valve actuator with an instrument mounting pad and a manifold in a power module and yoke combination for mounting a valve controller instrument without tubing or mounting brackets. A cover encloses the feedback linkage between the actuator and instrument. The actuator includes a second instrument mounting pad and manifold so the power module is reversible to accommodate fail-safe opened or fail-safe closed valve conditions. A valve actuator and instrument combination is no higher than the actuator alone.

Valve actuator

A sliding stem valve for controlling fluid flow in a valve body having a seat, a bonnet, a valve stem and plug slidably mounted in the bonnet for engaging the seat during valve shut-off, and a diaphragm forming a stem seal for preventing the undesired leakage of fluid into the atmosphere. The diaphragm is formed of elastomeric material with bead edges at opposite ends. The top diaphragm bead edge is sealed with a retainer to the bonnet. The bottom diaphragm bead seal is sealed to the valve stem while enabling the valve stem to rotate with respect to the bottom diaphragm bead edge. A sized retainer, bushing and retainer ring mount the bottom diaphragm bead edge to the valve stem and permit slidable motion of the bead edge with the valve stem while enabling the valve stem to rotate with respect to the bead edge and still maintain a viable diaphragm seal.
