Apparatus and methods are disclosed for removing disinfectant by-product contaminants from the air above the water surface of an indoor swimming pool. The apparatus and methods employ a laminar piston-like mass of air that is continuously generated from one side of the pool, sweeps across the water surface of the pool to the opposite of the pool and is sucked away from the opposite side of the pool. The apparatus and methods are applicable to a modified perimeter gutter system and can employ air supply fans, air exhaust fans, specialized laminar air flow diffusers, associated plenums and ducting and contaminant strippers.

Self-contained system for scavenging contaminated air from above the water surface of an indoor swimming pool

A trim valve includes a valve housing having an inlet section and an outlet section. A valve shaft is mounted to the valve housing to be stationary with respect thereto. The valve shaft includes an internal flow passage in fluid communication with the outlet section of the valve housing. A valve rotor is disposed inboard of the valve housing and outboard of the valve shaft for modulating flow through the valve housing. The valve rotor is mounted for rotational movement within the valve housing between a fully open position in which a flow path is defined between the inlet and outlet sections of the valve housing, and a reduced flow position in which the valve rotor at least partially blocks the flow path. An actuator is operatively connected to the valve housing to actuate the valve rotor between the fully open and reduced flow positions.

Trim valves for modulating fluid flow

A valve assembly is disclosed for modulating the flow of fuel to a fuel nozzle at a high frequency or in a stepped manner to actively control combustion in a gas turbine engine which includes a valve housing defining an inlet portion for receiving fuel from a fuel source at an initial flow rate and an outlet portion for delivering fuel to a fuel nozzle at the initial flow rate or a modulated flow rate depending upon a detected combustion condition, and a mechanism disposed within the valve housing for modulating the flow rate of fuel to the outlet portion in response to a detected combustion condition.

Valve assembly for modulating fuel flow to a gas turbine engine

An electromagnetically actuatable disc-type valve includes a pre-assembled hydraulic sub-assembly with a core member and a separately pre-assembled electrical sub-assembly with a body. The exterior surface of the core member is configured to facilitate insertion into the electrical sub-assembly and orientation relative thereto by use of a bushing. The outside diameter of the body of the valve is no more than 13.5 millimeters in the vicinity of the delivery end of the hydraulic sub-assembly. A fluid filter is disposed between a tensioning spring and a calibration slide to facilitate more accurate flow checking and leakage checking of the valve during manufacture.

Electromagnetically actuated disc-type valve

A method of assembling an electromagnetically actuatable disc-type valve permits separate assembly of the hydraulic components from the electrical components. The constant shape of the exterior surface of the core member enables the hydraulic sub-assembly to be assembled separately from the electrical sub-assembly and thereafter inserted into the electrical sub-assembly. The valve's plastic covering is applied to the electrical components separately and before the hydraulic components are assembled with the electrical components. In this way, the heat involved does not affect the calibration of the hydraulic components. A bushing is disposed to lock the two sub-assemblies at the desired relative orientation. The fluid filter is inserted into the valve before the calibration slide is inserted into the valve. The valve is flow checked before setting the tension on the armature of the valve.

Method of assembling electromagnetically actuated disc-type valve

A fuel injector for supplying liquid fuel to an air inlet manifold of a spark ignition engine has a fuel-inlet, an outlet defined in a tubular component mounted in a tubular part of the injector body, and at least one orifice formed in a valve seat member downstream of a valve member. The tubular component is spaced downstream from the valve seat member. An air circulation duct is defined between the tubular component and tubular part, so that spray of fuel flowing through the outlet draws air through the duct to minimize dribble of fuel from the injector.

Fuel injector

A fuel injector for supplying fuel to an air inlet duct of a spark ignition engine includes a plate valve member which is movable by magnetic forces away from a seating element on a seat member to allow fuel flow through an orifice to form a spray. The fuel spray flowing from the orifice flows into a bore in a tubular outlet and extending from the bore are at least two diverging bores from which two sprays of fuel are emitted, and air is introduced into the space between the orifice and the entrances to the diverging bores.
