A base member includes a substantially horizontal main body that supports one or more components of a heating and cooling unit. The main body includes a conditioned space portion about a first side of the main body and a non-conditional space portion about a second side of the main body. A substantially vertical separation wall extends up from the main body and separates the conditioned space portion from the non-conditioned space portion. A lip is formed at least partially about the non-conditioned space portion. At least one drainage hole extends through the non-conditioned space portion. A surface of the non-conditioned space portion is sloped towards the at least one drainage hole. A drain pan is disposed about the conditioned space portion. At least one drainage tube is in fluid communication with the drain pan. A surface of the drain pan is sloped towards the at least one drainage tube.

Condensate collecting base member for a heating and cooling unit

A condensation trap comprising an inlet chamber configured to receive condensate liquid through a receiving opening therein. The trap also comprises an internal chamber in fluid communication with the inlet chamber via a first internal opening defined by a sidewall shared by the inlet chamber and the internal chamber, the first internal opening located at an opposite end of the inlet chamber from the receiving opening. The trap also comprises an outlet chamber in fluid communication with the internal chamber via a second internal opening located at an opposite end of the internal chamber from the first internal opening. The trap also comprises a bleed orifice located in a sidewall shared by the internal chamber and the outlet chamber, wherein at least a portion of the bleed orifice is lateral to first internal opening.

Freeze tolerant condensate trap

An ice producing machine that has a cylindrical evaporator, a compressor that circulates refrigerant supplied to the evaporator, an auger that removes ice from the evaporator and an ice bin for holding the ice. Potential damage to the machine that might result from abnormal loading of the motor that drive the auger is prevented by monitoring the motor current and turning off the motor and compressor before abnormal loading can cause damage. False ice bin not full interpretations are avoided by setting the threshold of a light detector that senses whether the ice bin is full or not full to slightly less than the voltage developed by the light detector when subjected to ambient light only.
