An electronic device may include a housing, processing circuitry carried by the housing, and at least one wireless transceiver carried by the housing and a NFC device carried by the housing. The electronic device may also include a display carried by the housing and having an internal surface within the housing and a display surface opposite the internal surface, and an NFC antenna mounted on and extending across at least a portion of the internal surface of the display, wherein the NFC antenna comprises a substrate and electrically conductive traces thereon defining a plurality of loops.

Electronic device with NFC antenna adjacent display and related methods

A method and apparatus for controlling an antenna is provided. A load on a second antenna of a device is determined, the device comprising at least one processor, a first antenna, a variable tuning circuit connected to the first antenna, and the second antenna, wherein the processor determines the load. The processor controls the variable tuning circuit based on the load on the second antenna to change a match of the first antenna.

Method and apparatus for controlling an antenna

An electronic device may include a housing having a display opening therein, processing circuitry within the housing, and wireless transceiver circuitry within the housing and coupled to the processing circuitry. The electronic device may also include NFC transceiver circuitry within the housing and coupled to the processing circuitry, a display within the housing and coupled to the processing circuitry, the display having an external surface exposed through the display opening and having an internal surface within the housing, and an NFC antenna positioned within the housing behind and aligned with the internal surface of the display and coupled to the NFC transceiver circuitry.

A system and process that includes a multiband antenna as may be used in mobile communications devices. The multiband antenna includes a feed port coupled to each of a first radiating portion and a second radiating portion. Each of the first and second radiating portions defines a respective resonant bandwidth. The multiband antenna also includes at least one adjustable tuning circuit disposed between separate and displaced radiating segments of a respective one of the first and second radiating portions. Adjustment of the tuning circuit alters a corresponding resonant bandwidth allowing the corresponding resonant bandwidth to be tuned independently of the other resonant bandwidth and without affecting performance of the other resonant bandwidth. Other embodiments are disclosed.

Antenna tuning for multiband operation

A mobile communication device that includes an antenna configured to send and/or receive a first signal in a first frequency band and a second signal in a second frequency band, first receiver circuitry configured to receive signals in the first frequency band, a switch having a first position, and a first diplexing network coupled to the antenna, the first diplexing network also coupled to the switch, and first diplexing network also coupled to the first receiver circuitry. The first diplexing network can be configured to pass signals in the first frequency band to the first receiver circuitry and to block signals in the second frequency band from the first receiver circuitry. The first diplexing network can also be configured to pass signals in the second frequency band to the switch. The mobile communication device can also include a second diplexing network coupled to the switch at the first position, the second diplexing network corresponding to the second frequency band.
