A removable and stowable vehicle seat system includes a seat that can be folded into a compact form factor and a retainer provided in a cargo area of the vehicle to receive and retain the folded seat. The retainer is sized and shaped to receive the folded seat in a close arrangement to ensure the folded seat stays in place. A strap is also provided with tether hooks to secure the folded seat within the retainer by engaging the tether hooks to body anchors provided in the retainer. The floor recess of the retainer has features to easily receive a folded seat and position it into an optimal resting position. The floor recess may be provided with pads to engage with feet on the base of the folded seat. The pads serve to securely locate the seat within the retainer and to dampen vibration of the stored seat while the vehicle is in motion.

Removable and stowable vehicle seat system

Some embodiments are directed to an assembly for housing and covering a vehicle airbag in an un-deployed state. The assembly can include a hollow housing that defines an interior that is configured to house the airbag in the un-deployed state. The housing can include a door having a linearly extending primary weakened portion spanning longitudinally opposing ends of the housing. The housing door can also include a pair of angled seams that each extend proximate the primary weakened portion to a location adjacent opposing corners of the door. The assembly can also include an intermediate layer disposed over and joined to the housing door, and an exterior layer disposed over and joined to the intermediate layer.

Vehicle restraint apparatus and methods of use and manufacture thereof

A cargo cover assembly selectively covers a cargo compartment formed behind the rear seat and between spaced interior sidewalls vehicle. The cover assembly includes a housing pivotally connected to a rear seat and movable between storage and deployed positions. A cover, and preferably first and second cover portions, extend(s) in a lateral direction from the housing toward at least one of the interior sidewalls of the vehicle to a deployed position(s). Retaining members are formed in the sidewalls for securing the cover portions in the deployed positions. First and second rails may also be pivotally secured to the housing to receive perimeter portions of the respective cover portions and thereby add additional support and improving the aesthetics of the cover assembly.

A vehicle may have a device that is movably connected to the vehicle and a gear damper used to control the motion of the device. If the vehicle is subjected to crash acceleration, the viscosity of the damper fluid increases to prevent the motion of the device.
