A first file is selected from within a file directory. When a first function is activated while the first file is selected, the first file is associated with a first queue, wherein the first function is selected for activation from a list of available functions that may be selectively applied to selected files within the file directory. In response to an action of a user, a second file is subsequently selected from within the file directory. When a second function is activated while the second file is selected and the first file is within the first queue, the second file and the first file are automatically sent to an application, wherein the application concurrently imports and opens both the first file placed within the first queue and the second file subsequently selected for use by a data processing system.

Queuing files to be sent to an application

A generated first function queues identifying data of selected files from a file directory within a queue when the first function is activated while the selected files are selected for access by a user. A generated second function imports to and opens within a single application all files within the queue when the second function is activated. A generated third function provides options for manipulation of files that have been queued by the first function. The second function is activated while files are within the queue. The files are imported within the queue into the single application, wherein files of a first folder that have been queued by the first function and files of a second folder that are selected are imported concurrently. Each file placed within the queue and each currently selected file is imported into a single-user selected application via a single activation of the second function.

This disclosure describes an automated process of discovering characteristics needed to integrate a web-based application to a web portal, such as a reverse proxy. This process eliminates the need for application owners and security analysts to manually discover the information needed for the on-boarding process. To this end, application-specific information is determined by monitoring network traffic flows in and out of the application, user authentication and authorization event data, and the like. An application discovery engine analyzes the discovered data, preferably against a set of patterns and heuristic-based rules, to discover or identify the one or more application characteristics. A set of configuration data is then generated, and this configuration data is then used to integrate the application into the web reverse proxy and, in particular, by specifying the configuration needed to 'board' the application. Preferably, the monitoring and application characterization determination functions occur in an automated manner.

Auto-detection of web-based application characteristics for reverse proxy enablement

A method and associated system that enable files in a file directory to be queued or marked prior to sending the files to a common application. A first selectable function is provided to queue a selected file within a first queue, wherein only selected files are queued, and wherein files from different folders may be queued. A selection of an application with which to open the queued and selected files is received. A second selectable function is provided to automatically open all of the queued and/or selected files with the application, wherein files across different folders can be opened with a single operation of the second function.

A method and system for communicating between database client users and administrators. A message request is received from a database administrator (DBA) responsible for managing aspects of a particular database. The message request includes a database name of the particular database, at least two message recipients, and message content. The message request is a request to send the message content only to the at least two message recipients consisting of at least two but not all database client users currently connected to the particular database. An Internet Protocol (IP) address associated with each message recipient is determined, without using an instant messaging address for any of the message recipients. A first message including the message content is simultaneously transmitted to each of the determined IP addresses. A second message, which includes a reply message to the first message, is received from one of the determined IP addresses.

Integrated two-way communications between database client users and administrators

Methods and arrangements to check for permission to record Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) messages and to respond to requests for permission are contemplated. Embodiments include transformations, code, state machines or other logic to check for permission to record VoIP messages and to respond to requests by transmitting an inquiry on permission to record a VoIP message of a participant in a VoIP call session comprising the VoIP message, receiving a response to the inquiry, determining by a processor whether the response to the inquiry grants permission to record the VoIP message, and recording the VoIP message based upon the response to the inquiry granting permission to record the VoIP message. Some embodiments may involve querying a participant in a VoIP call session comprising a VoIP message for permission to record the VoIP message through a user interface mechanism for checking for permission to record VoIP messages.

An instant messaging program is configured by receiving a chat selection input signal from the input device indicating the selection of a chat session; displaying selectable chat configuration parameters on the display; receiving a configuration input signal from the selection device indicating the selection of a chat configuration parameter; and linking the selected chat configuration parameter to the selected chat session so that the selected chat configuration parameter controls the subsequent display of the selected chat session.

Control options for instant message display and notification

A Source Code Author Identifier (SCAI) automates the process of manually running a comparison to identify changes between versions of a source code file and associates identified changes with the author who made the change. After a developer identifies a segment of code in a first file, wherein the first file as a newer version of a second file, SCAI compares the segment of code in the first file to a corresponding segment of code in the second file. SCAI identifies the author of the first file whenever a difference is detected between the segment of code in the first file and the corresponding segment of code in the second file. SCAI displays the author of the first file next to the detected difference between the segment of code from the first file and the corresponding segment of code from the second file. SCAI can repeat the comparison across a plurality of versions of the file, comparing each version with the previously created version.

Identifying authors of changes between multiple versions of a file

Methods and arrangements to communicate aurally during a chat conference are contemplated. Embodiments include transformations, code, state machines or other logic to communicate aurally during a chat conference by receiving through a user interface for the chat conference the designation of a participant in the chat conference, receiving through the user interface for the chat conference a command to capture audio, capturing audio, and transmitting the captured audio to the participant based upon the designation of the participant. In some embodiments, a participant may be designated by a mouse click on a name representing the participant. In some embodiments, the command to capture audio may be expressed by holding down a mouse button. In alternate embodiments, the command to capture audio may be expressed by a pop-up menu. In further embodiments, the captured audio may be stored and transmitted to additional participants.

Ease of use feature for audio communications within chat conferences

The invention meeting the need identified above is the 'Enhanced Database Propagation Program' or (EDPP). EDPP uses a cyclic member table that identifies a first source table in a cyclic relationship with a second source table. The first source table, identified in the cyclic member table, propagates first. EDPP replaces all foreign keys with 'NULL' in the first target table. After the second source table in the subscription set has propagated to a second target table, EDPP updates first target table with the foreign keys from the first source table.

A method and system for selective encryption within a document. A portion of the document selected and marked for encryption is detected, the selected portion of the document including plaintext. The detected portion of the document selected for encryption is encrypted as ciphertext. The encrypted portion of the document is decrypted with a proper decryption key, wherein the decrypting includes decrypting the encrypted portion of the document in response to presentation of required data by the accessor. The required data includes the proper decryption key, a name of the accessor, and an employee number of the accessor. The portion of the document is displayed as decrypted.

Selective encryption within documents

Methods and arrangements to selectively retrieve Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) messages are contemplated. Embodiments include transformations, code, state machines or other logic to selectively retrieve VoIP messages by storing the VoIP messages, associating one or more descriptors with the VoIP messages, and displaying at least some of the VoIP messages. The display may include one or more of the descriptors associated with the displayed VoIP messages. The embodiments may include receiving a designation of a designated VoIP message from the VoIP messages. The embodiments may include retrieving the designated VoIP message. In some embodiments, the designated VoIP message may be played. In further embodiments, the designated VoIP message may be forwarded. In many embodiments, the descriptors associated with the displayed VoIP messages may consist of values of attributes of the displayed VoIP messages. In several embodiments, the attributes may have been received through a user interface. In some embodiments, the displaying may include receiving a change in state of a mouse button. In many embodiments, the designating may include receiving a change in state of a mouse button while a location of a pointer driven by the mouse is associated with the designated VoIP message.

Selectively retrieving VoIP messages

Systems and media for awarding credits based on provided usage information are disclosed. More particularly, hardware and/or software for collecting and disseminating usage information related to electronic documents and for awarding usage credits to users in exchange for providing usage information are disclosed. Embodiments include receiving an indication of the usage of an electronic document by a user and aggregating the received usage indication for the document with usage indications relating to other users. Embodiments may also include creating document utilization information for the electronic document based on the aggregated usage indications and awarding usage credit to the user based on the user's providing statistics on the usage of the electronic document. Further embodiments may include transmitting an indication of the awarded usage credit to the user and receiving a request to use the usage credits.
