The invention is a method and system for customizing media content distributed by a multicast network based on a stored user profile. A new high quality video distribution method is disclosed. A new system supporting targeted, interactive advertising is taught. The tracking of media content consumed in the home is enabled. Media content producers are provided with a new connection to media content consumers. Unwanted media channels are no longer distributed to a customer.

Method and system for providing customized media content

Provides management of the communication of media communicated to a Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) enabled multiplexer in a media distribution network. A SIP enabled multiplexer receives information from one or more components of the media distribution network to identify the status of the media distribution networks. Utilizing the information, a level of communication that media is to be communicated from a media source is determined. The level of communication is maintained until a request is received to communicate media from the media source. The request is compared to the determined level of communication at which the media is to be communicated. The media source receives an indication as to the level of communication that media is to be communicated. As a result, the media source communicates a request to communicate media at the indicated level of communication.

Managing media resources utilizing session initiation protocol

A method and medium are provided for ensuring that a video stream communicated from a mobile device is communicated subject to a minimum quality level. A request to communicate a video stream at a minimum quality level from a mobile device is received. Signaling information from the mobile device is processed and utilized to establish a communications pathway from the mobile device to the target device. The communications pathway facilitates the communication of the video stream at the minimum quality level. The video stream is communicated to the target device contemporaneously to receiving the video clip by the mobile device.

Ensuring quality of a video stream through a telecommunications network

A method and medium are provided for maintaining a secure communication of a media stream as a mobile device transitions from a first network a second network. A request is received from the mobile device to initiate a secure communication with an end point. The endpoint stores a unique identifier of the mobile device and a unique key that is usable to decrypt any securely communicated data received from the mobile device. Data is securely communicated from the mobile device to the end point. The mobile device communicates a second request to securely communicate as it transitions from the first network to the second network. A source identifier is determined from the second request to identify the mobile device as the source. The unique key, previously associated with the mobile device, is utilized to decrypt any data received from the mobile device.

Maintaining secure communication while transitioning networks

Embodiments of the present invention relate to systems, methods and computer storage media for managing the communication of media communicated to a Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) enabled multiplexer in a media distribution network. A SIP enabled multiplexer receives information from one or more components of the media distribution network to identify the status of the media distribution networks. The invention is a method and system for customizing a plurality of hospitality site amenities based on a stored user profile. Certain check-in procedures are reduced or eliminated. Hospitality sites are able to provide a guest with an abundance of personalized services without a corresponding increase in staff size. Guests experience customized hotel amenities, environments, and media renderings.

Personalized hospitality management system

An identification system is disclosed that is configured to identify communication devices on a network. The identification system is comprised of boot circuitry and an interface. The boot circuitry receives an identification request to identify communication devices. The boot circuitry scans memory addresses that represent communication paths with the communication devices. The boot circuitry generates identification query signals for each memory address scanned. The interface formats each identification query signal based on communication formats to generate formatted identification signals. The communication formats are based on the communication paths with the communication devices. The interface transmits the formatted identification signals to the communication devices based on the communication formats. The interface receives response signals from each of the communication devices and transfers the response signals to the boot circuitry. The boot circuitry identifies the communication devices based on the response signals. Advantageously, the boot circuitry comprises a BIOS chip, or some other convention boot chip, that is well known and relatively inexpensive.
