The invention includes a wireless multifunction veterinary thermometer device that communicates with a mobile communication device running an application software or 'app' that is used to record animal temperature data and to display animal treatment options considering the recorded data and ambient weather conditions. Treatment options may be determined by logic programmed within the app or by another computer program associated with a remote server and database. Data transfer takes place between the mobile device and the remote server/database. A heat stress indicator is displayed for the user. If the indicator represents a high heat stress level, the app logic or remote computer program may automatically generate a recommended treatment option, or the user may determine an appropriate treatment. User interfaces are provided for displaying and recording a wide range of additional data concerning the animal.

Veterinary thermometer and method of managing animal health considering ambient temperature and humidity conditions

Implantable transponders comprising no ferromagnetic parts for use in medical implants are disclosed herein. Such transponders may assist in preventing interference of transponders with medical imaging technologies. Such transponders may optionally be of a small size, and may assist in collecting and transmitting data and information regarding implanted medical devices. Methods of using such transponders, readers for detecting such transponders, and methods for using such readers are also described.

Transponders and sensors for implantable medical devices and methods of use thereof

The present disclosure provides, in various examples, an implant with a transponder embedded therein, and a method of identifying the implant while inside the human body. In certain examples, the method includes, for example, identifying an implant with an external reader and establishing a wireless communication between the external reader and the transponder. In an example, the implant is identified using information obtained during the wireless communication.

Breast implants with integrated transponders

A system and method are provided for diagnosis of animal respiratory diseases using auscultation techniques. Animal lung sounds are recorded and digitized. Lung sounds are obtained by an electronic digital stethoscope or a wireless audio digital recording unit. The sounds are stored as digital data, and one or more algorithms are applied to the data for producing an output to the user indicative of the health of the animal. The acoustic characteristics of the sound are compared with baseline data in the algorithms. One embodiment includes a digital stethoscope with an integral display. Another embodiment provides a system for gathering information about an animal to include not only auscultation data, but also information from other field devices such as temperature probes or weigh scales. The combined information can be analyzed by system software to generate detailed information to a user to include a diagnosis and recommended treatment options.

System and method for diagnosis of bovine diseases using auscultation analysis

The invention includes a system to determine body surface area (BSA) or volume of an animal that can be used to determine a health status of the animal. The system has a plurality of integrated measuring devices such as radar or infrared sensors. The measuring devices are mounted within a confined space. A plurality of measurements is taken along vertically oriented sections or slices of the animal as the animal passes by the confined space. The measurements are combined and numerically converted to BSA or volume estimations. The health status can be derived as a direct relation to BSA or volume, or changes in BSA or volume over a selected time period.

System and method for determining animal body surface area and subsequently determining animal health status

The present invention provides, in various embodiments, a breast implant which can have a shell with an opening. A patch can cover the opening. A silicone gel can be disposed within the shell and an RFID transponder can be embedded within the silicone gel, so that the implant can be conveniently identified while inside the human body.

The invention includes a location tracking device in an RFID environment, a system and method for tracking tag objects. Preferred embodiments include location tracking for livestock and a system and method for categorizing animal health. The location tracking device is an active or passive RFID device having a low power, long range transceiver for tracking the location and movement of the tag animal. The RFID device further includes a temperature reader circuit that induces an activation voltage on an inductive coupled temperature sensor having an LC circuit. The activation voltage is selectively cycled on and off to measure the decay of the LC circuit by its resonant frequency. Changes in capacitance of the LC circuit are converted to temperature readings thereby providing temperature monitoring of the animal. The system and method includes logic in the form of predetermined movement categories which indicate whether an animal may be potentially sick or healthy. The movement categories include frequency of movement and distances traveled by a monitored animal.

System and method for animal location tracking and health monitoring using long range RFID and temperature monitoring

A secure dual frequency RFID device is provided. The secure RFID device includes a standard high frequency RFID transponder and a low-frequency authenticator. When the high-frequency transponder is activated, it generates a command signal to turn on the low-frequency authenticator, which in turn generates its own low frequency coded transponder signal. High and low frequency readers accept the respective transponder signals and system software confirms the identity of a tagged object using both signals. The authenticator may include a MEMs device or an ASIC. An authentication code generator generates a programmed sequence of authentication signals taking advantage of one or more authenticator parameters including capacitance, resistance, and/or RF frequency. Another embodiment includes a gaming piece housing the RFID device. Another embodiment includes a method of determining locations of gaming pieces on a gaming board, while yet another embodiment includes a gaming device with RFID tagged gaming pieces.

A system and method are provided for diagnosis of animal respiratory diseases using auscultation techniques. Animal lung sounds are recorded and stored as digitized data. Algorithms are applied to the data producing an output indicative of the health of the animal. Another method determines effectiveness of antibiotics administered to animals based upon observed relationships between lung score categories obtained from auscultation. A comparison is made between sample populations of animals that receive different classifications of antibiotics, and this data is compared to lung score categories observed for each of the animals that received the antibiotics. A statistical analysis is conducted to confirm statistical differences in case fatality rates between lung score categories. Insignificant differences in mortality rates across a range of lung score categories indicates the particular antibiotic administered is not effective, whereas a reduced fatality rate associated with lower lung scores indicates a level of antibiotic effectiveness.
