A launch envelope computation system adapted to be mounted on a missile including a radar for providing signals indicative of range, range rate, target angle and target angle rate of change, a memory for storing a maximum and minimum missile envelope, a computer connected to receive signals from the radar and additional signals from a launch vehicle including velocity and altitude, for updating the missile envelopes, and a computer connected to the memory means and the radar for determining whether a target is within the missile envelope and providing launch or no launch signals, as well as indication of what altitude changes, if any, are required in the launch vehicle to allow a launch.

Active radar missile launch envelope computation system

A system is disclosed for analyzing in real time the frequency spectrum of an incoming signal of unknown frequency characteristics. This is accomplished by first generating a train of sampling pulses in repetitive frames, where each frame of pulses represents a series of cross-correlation functions in terms of a predetermined number of sampling intervals and a predetermined number of harmonics. These sampling pulses are then multiplied with the incoming signal to generate a train of discrete sampled outputs. The discrete sampled outputs from the multiplying means are accumulated in an accumulator and a frequency domain output signal is produced for each frame of sampling pulses.

Frequency spectrum analyzer

A matched transmission line coupling an RF generator to an antenna and receiving Doppler altered reflected signals from the antenna. A pair of diodes coupled to the transmission line 90 electrical degrees apart at the RF frequency and oppositely poled so that the RF signal from the generator and the reflected signal from the antenna are heterodyned in each diode to produce a heterodyne signal which is in phase. The heterodyne signals are band limited, filtered and passed through threshold detectors separately to provide separate in phase pulses which are applied to a coincidence gate to provide an output. Amplitude modulation is rejected because it produces out of phase signals and frequency modulation is rejected because the transmission line is substantially flat. The RF generator may be frequency modulated and the output of the coincidence gate is applied to a shift register to insure the triggering thereof by only a true Doppler signal.
