A thermoplastic film bag pack where each bag has a bottom, front, rear, and gusseted side walls, an inside and outside surface and a cut-edge mouth portion. The mouth portion has double film loop handles as integral extensions of the walls at its opposite ends. The external surface of the bag at the cut-edge region of the mouth between handles has been subjected to a corona discharge treatment to such an extent that adjacently facing cut-edge regions will be releasably adherent until a moderate force separates them. This condition provides for effective dispensing of grocery bags. A method of forming the bags and a system for dispensing is also disclosed.

Ready to load bag pack, method of forming and system

The invention involves a system for bag pack support, easy dispensing, loading and removal of grocery bags involving a pack of bags and a rack suitable for the dispensing of the bags. The pack includes a plurality of undershirt type bags having integrally extended double-loop handles in the bag mouth. Each bag mouth is distinguished by being free of any suspension tabs. Thus, in bag pack form there is no 'header'. Suspension orifices are located in the handles of the bags. The pack of bags is employed with a rack which includes a pair of spaced parallel cantilevered rods having free ends. The bag pack is threaded onto the support rods by means of the support orifices. The rack includes a restraining means adapted to engage at least some of the bags of the pack so as to at least inhibit any significant forward movement of the pack as individual bags are loaded and removed from the rack. Means are included with the bag pack to secure the plurality of bags in a registered condition.

Grocery bag dispensing and loading system

A system for suspending a pack of thermoplastic bags, loading bags, removing loaded bags and for automatically opening the next bag preparatory to loading it by having a pack of handled bags suspended from laterally spaced elongated rods of a rack. The bags have been corona discharge treated in the handle and bag mouth region to such an extent that the pressure and cutting action during the formation thereof will cause adjacently facing cut edge regions to releasably adhere together until a moderate force separates them. During removal of a bag from the bag pack at least a portion of the cut edge of the mouth and handle region of the front wall of the next bag will follow the bag being removed for a short distance before separation thereby opening the next bag rendering it ready for loading.

Method of forming an easy-open bag pack

An apparatus for the support of loop handled bag packs of different general geometry which is also adapted for the loading of individual bags from said bag packs, said apparatus including a support means for a bag of first general geometry and a second support means for a bag pack of general geometry.

Apparatus for suspending bag packs of different geometry

A thermal plastic film bag structure having front and rear walls, gusseted side walls and a sealed bottom. This bag which has a tendency to form holes in the bottom at the seal transition point between the four layers of the gusset and the two layers of the central region of the bag is improved by providing seal areas, e.g. circular seals which are located slightly above the bottom seal line and slightly inside of the vertical line formed by the innermost reach of the gussets on both sides of the bag. The seal areas relieve strain at the weak regions in the bottom of the bag.

Bag holder or the like

An extruded cylinder of plastic material having open ends and die-cut flaps on opposite sides is a supporting holder for limp plastic bags. The holder is formed by an inexpensive process of extruding plastic and cutting the tube into cylinders of the proper length and simultaneously die-cutting the flaps in the sides of the cylinder. The holder is flattened during manufacture and packaged in the flattened condition.

Method of making extruded plastic holder for handled bags

A wire holder for open mouth plastic bags having integral loop handles has tabs integrally formed from the top wire pieces and extending downwardly to suspend the bags in an open position. Base, longitudinal, vertical and top wire pieces form a substantially rectangular wire frame which can be collapsed into a flat condition prior to use and which can be easily assembled into a holder having good stability during use.

A bag pack of a plurality of stacked thermoplastic bag structures each bag comprising a front and rear bag wall and an open mouth top portion. Handles are integral extensions of the bag walls. The bags are bonded together via bonding means in association with said handles. Individual bags may have stress relief curves in the handles and the bag mouth opening.

The present invention provides a frame like structure easily attachable to a check-out counter in a grocery store environment. Handle arms are hingedly attached to the structure and perpendicularly project therefrom. The arms are further provided with a resilient tubular member which allows the arm when displaced with an applied force, to be returned to the perpendicular relationship. A support post is provided to hold a complement of plastic bags to the frame for ease in dispensing and filling the bags.
