Optic couplings, including optic retention rings, are described herein that require reduced tooling or no tooling for optic installation on luminaires. Briefly, a retention ring for coupling an optic to a luminaire comprises radial alignment assemblies comprising a base, and a protrusion extending from a surface of the base for engaging a coupling assembly of the optic. At least one radial locking assembly is offset from the radial alignment assemblies, the radial locking assembly comprising a vertical protrusion for engaging an aperture of the optic coupling assembly and locking rotation of the optic relative to the radial alignment assemblies.

Tooless optic couplings for luminaires

A direct troffer-style fixture for solid state light sources and pan structures for use in these fixtures. The fixture comprises a door frame assembly that is attached to the pan. The pan housing is defined by a base and two angled side walls. End caps are attached to the side walls. End reflectors extend at an angle away from the end caps and attach to the base. The end caps, the end reflectors, and the base define compartments at both ends of the housing in which components can be housed. A light board is attached to the base using alignment holes in the base and cutout portions of the end reflectors. The multifunctional end reflectors retain elements within the compartments, provide added structural stability to the pan, aid in aligning a light board, and they reflect light that impinges on them toward the open end of the fixture.

Standardized troffer fixture

An LED lamp includes an elongated at least partially optically transmissive enclosure having a first end and a second end. LEDs are located in the enclosure and are operable to emit light through the enclosure when energized through an electrical path. A first pair of pins are mounted to the first end of the enclosure and a second pair of pins are mounted to the second end of the enclosure, the pins being in the electrical path. The LEDs are mounted on an LED board. A support structure for supporting the LED board is formed as one-piece with the enclosure and is formed of an optical material.

LED lamp

A directional lighting fixture having a variable beam angle that is easily adjusted. One or more lighting sources are disposed within a fixture housing. A removable cover is disposed over the open end of the housing. The cover comprises a micro lens structure that defines the beam angle of the light that is emitted from the fixture. The removable cover, or in some configurations portions of the cover, can be easily replaced by the end user to achieve a desired beam angle.

An LED lamp includes an elongated at least partially optically transmissive enclosure. The LEDs are mounted on an LED board. The enclosure has a support structure for supporting the LED board. The support structure is formed as one-piece with the enclosure and of an optical material. A pair of end caps are secured to the ends of the enclosure using a snap-fit connection. The end caps retain pins for connecting to a light fixture.

An LED array comprises a base layer, at least one LED disposed on the base layer, and a diffusion layer including a luminescent material. The diffusion layer covers the at least one LED and the base layer in such a way that light emitted from the at least one LED passes through the diffusion layer.

Lamps and bulbs are disclosed generally comprising different combinations and arrangement of a light source, one or more wavelength conversion materials, regions or layers which are positioned separately or remotely with respect to the light source, and a separate diffusing layer. This arrangement allows for the fabrication of lamps and bulbs that are efficient, reliable and cost effective and can provide an essentially omni-directional emission pattern, even with a light source comprised of a co-planar arrangement of LEDs. Additionally, this arrangement allows aesthetic masking or concealment of the appearance of the conversion regions or layers when the lamp is not illuminated. Some embodiments of the present invention utilize LED chips to provide one or more lighting components instead of providing the components through phosphor conversion. This can provide for lamps that can be operated with lower power and can be manufactured at lower cost. In one embodiment, a red lighting component can be provided by red emitting LEDs as opposed to a red conversion material.

A portable communication device is configured to communicate with an associated remote motion input device. The remote motion input device is configured to be attached to a portion of a user and configured to detect orientation and motion data. The portable communication device includes a remote motion input device controller that receives motion data from the remote motion input device via a local wireless link and converts the motion data into input commands such that the portable communication device carries out functions according to the input commands.

An electronic device may include a substrate and an acoustic actuator mounted on a surface of the substrate. More particularly, the acoustic actuator may be configured to generate displacements along a direction parallel with respect to the surface of the substrate in response to an electrical signal applied thereto. A speaker box may define an acoustic volume, and the speaker box may include a speaker box wall with a speaker box opening therethrough adjacent the acoustic actuator. A speaker membrane may be provided across the speaker box opening adjacent the acoustic actuator, and the speaker membrane may be mechanically coupled to the acoustic actuator so that the speaker membrane is configured to deflect responsive to displacements generated by the acoustic actuator. The invention described herein provides a core modem assembly for a communication circuit that is well suited for mobile communication devices such as cellular phones, personal digital assistants, laptop computers, and hand-held computers. The core modem assembly comprises a baseband module, an RF module, and a socket connector that provides electrical isolation between the baseband module and RF module. The core modem assembly achieves a very small form factor and provides shielding between the baseband module and RF module. Further, the core modem assembly uses a 'plug and play' design allowing late customization and interchangeability of the modules.

A portable communication device includes a base, an intermediate portion and a top portion that are operatively coupled by a combination hinge assembly. The combination hinge assembly is configured to facilitate sliding motion between the base and the intermediate portion and rotation between the base and the top portion. The base, intermediate portion and top portion may be configured to include respective displays and/or touch input devices to provide a portable communication device with increased display area and/or control area with a smaller footprint often associated with conventional clamshell or slider portable communication devices.

A loudspeaker may be coupled to the first speaker box wall, and the loudspeaker may include an acoustic actuator that is configured to generate displacements in response to an electrical signal applied thereto. The loudspeaker may further include a speaker membrane that is mechanically coupled to the acoustic actuator and that is configured to deflect in directions toward and away from the second speaker box wall responsive to displacements of the acoustic actuator. Related assemblies and methods are also discussed.
