Method and system aspects for achieving more accurate radiation delivery during radiation treatment by a radiation-emitting system are described. In a method aspect, and system for achieving same, the method includes providing a table of dose rate values for accumulated dosages in a treatment unit of the radiation emitting system, and controlling a dose rate of radiation emitted from the radiation emitting system through utilization of the table of dose rates. Controlling further includes determining an accumulated dosage at a sampling point, and comparing the accumulated dosage to a total desired dosage. The dose rate is adjusted based on the table of dose rate values and the determined accumulated dosage, with the dose rate ramped down as the accumulated dosage nears the total desired dosage. Accumulated dosages include fractional numbers of monitor units.

A system and method for radiation therapy delivery. Known errors are compensated for by applying an offset factor to the dose at the start of the beam cycle. According to one embodiment of the invention, a dosimetry controller is configured to provide the offset connection and sense radiation on (RAD ON) and monitor the dose rate at the beginning of the beam cycle.

Precision dosimetry in an intensity modulated radiation treatment system

Multiple fields grouped sequentially as an intensity modulated field (IMG) may be viewed as a superimposed graphical composite (,). Graphical user interface for radiation therapy treatment apparatus

A system and method for radiation therapy delivery. Known delays are compensated for by applying a compensation factor to the dose at the start of the beam cycle. According to one embodiment of the invention, a dosimetry controller is configured to sense radiation on (RAD ON) and monitor the dose rate at the beginning of the beam cycle. The dosimetry controller then multiplies the dose rate by a compensation factor. Thus, for each beam cycle, the dosimetry controller resolves the magnitude of the lost dose rate data and compensates each segment accordingly.

Radiation output directed toward at least one field of an object, such as a patient, is sensed, for example, during a session of radiation therapy. The accumulated dose delivered to the field is displayed and updated throughout the delivery of radiation. A prescribed dose profile may also be displayed simultaneously so the user can compare the accumulated dose with the prescribed dose profile over the irradiated field. Dose profiles--both prescribed and accumulated--are preferably stored in a memory unit. Profiles for several different fields at several different times may be stored and used to direct and monitor the course of radiation treatment.
