A cabinet includes side panels, a back panel, and a top panel that frictionally-attach together with non-intrusive integrally-formed connectors. The illustrated base is screw-attached, and includes openings for routing wiring within the cabinet. Brackets are adapted to support shelves in the cabinet in either a flush or inset condition, and at different heights based on which cabinet slots they engage and based on their orientation in those slots. A light-transmitting top panel and top shelf can be used to provide improved light within the cabinet. Hinge brackets on the cabinet support either a thick door with internal storage space, a proud door or an inset door. Drawers supported in the cabinet include a lock within the drawer's header for operating a vertical cabinet lock rod.

A cantilevered drawer assembly comprises a support frame assembly comprising a pair of upright members. A rotating drawer assembly comprises a drawer frame having opposed parallel side rails supported upon a pivot frame having a pair of opposed pivot wheels. A pair of circular sector-shaped pivot arms is attached to the upright members. A channel having a parabolic section and a pair of straight sections extends across each pivot arm, and receives a pivot wheel. The side rails of the drawer frame are supported by the pivot arms. A pair of flanged wheels engages an upper edge of each side rail to restrict the vertical movement of the drawer frame. Translation of the drawer frame relative to the support frame assembly is accompanied by pivoting of the pivot arms. During translation, the drawer frame remains in a horizontal plane and is held in a cantilevered configuration.

Cantilevered drawer construction

A freestanding support for supporting a worksurface and an overhead storage unit and the like in an open office environment includes at least three legs where each leg has a bottom portion adapted for resting on a floor, a top horizontal support adapted for receiving and supporting a worksurface on the support, and a vertical support which maintains the bottom portion and the top horizontal support in a fixed vertically spaced relationship. A stretcher extends between and is attached to an upper rear portion of the end legs thereby maintaining the two end legs in a parallel horizontally disposed relationship. The freestanding support also has at least two support posts. One support post has an intermediate portion attached to the stretcher and is positioned substantially in alignment with one of the end legs and further has a bottom portion attached to the vertical support of the end leg. At least a second additional support post has an intermediate portion attached to the stretcher in alignment with the intermediate leg and has a bottom portion attached to the vertical support of the intermediate leg. Each support post has an upper end which is adapted to support a portion of an overhead storage unit above the worksurface supported by the top horizontal supports. The intermediate positioning of one of the support posts and the intermediate leg permits the incorporation of an overhead storage unit with a given worksurface having a different length than the overhead storage unit.

A freestanding modular furniture arrangement is provided to create workstations in open office plans, and other similar applications. Each furniture unit includes a worksurface with capped cutouts in the rear corners to mount overhead cabinets, privacy screens, and other furniture accessories. A mounting rail extends continuously along the rearward edge of each worksurface, and is capable of removably supporting therein a plurality of different amenities, such as bookshelves, CRT stands, fans, task lamps, etc., so as to permit a worker to personalize his or her own workstation. A removable stanchion permits certain convertible amenities to be supported either freestanding on the worksurface, or along the rear of the worksurface on the mounting rail. An L-shaped intermediate leg is available to support the worksurface in a cantilevered fashion to facilitate unfettered task chair movement along the forward edge of the worksurface.
