An orthopaedic reamer includes an elongate shaft and a cutting head attached to an end of the shaft. The cutting head has a diameter which is larger than the shaft. The cutting head has a radial perimeter and an axial cutting face with a plurality of cutting teeth. The cutting head has at least one visualization groove which extends radially inward from the radial perimeter. The at least one visualization groove allows a surgeon to visualize the cut bone during surgery.

Orthopaedic glenoid reamer

Instruments and a method are provided for reducing the gap between an implant head and the underlying resected bone surface to produce a more anatomic joint reconstruction. This is accomplished by providing a reamer for counter boring the resected surface to receive the collar so that a portion of the collar is recessed into the resected surface. The present invention permits the flexibility and stability of a collared two-piece implant while maintaining the close fit of a unitary implant.

Instrument and method for seating prosthesis

The invention is directed to an orthopaedic template system for use with a bone (14) having a shaft and a bearing surface at an end of the shaft. A first template (30) is attachable to the bone end adjacent to the bearing surface, and includes a first saw guide surface or slot (40). A joint locator (10) is used to position the first template (30) relative to the bearing surface. A second template (50) is pivotally attachable to the first template (30), whereby the second template (50) may be selectively positioned at one of a plurality of angular orientations relative to the first template. A third template (70) includes a second saw guide surface or slot (78), and is attachable to the first template (30) at a plurality of locations (72, 74, 76), whereby the second saw guide slot (78) may be selectively positioned relative to the first saw guide slot (40).

Orthopaedic template system including a joint locator

The invention is directed to an external fixator assembly for externally fixating and stabilizing a bone. The external fixator assembly includes a frame member; a bone piercing member insertable into the bone; and a clamp. The clamp includes a body with a slot, a hole, and a threaded opening therein. The threaded opening is in communication with the slot. The bone piercing member is received within the hole. The frame member is disposed within the slot. The clamp further includes a set screw in the threaded opening. The set screw is engaged with the frame member and holds the frame member within the slot.

External fixator assembly and clamp therefor

An elongated bone plate having an upper surface and a lower surface is provided along its length with at least a pair of spaced apart screw holes extending therethrough from the upper to the lower surface. The plate is provided, on at least a selected one of its upper or lower surfaces between at least one pair of the screw holes, with an indentation.

Reconstruction bone plate

An improved suture anchor driver includes a handle and an extending elongated shaft adapted for passing through arthroscopic portals. The distal end of the shaft engages the suture anchor. The shaft is cannulated to allow passage of a suture from the anchor to the handle. The shaft also has a slot in its wall and extending along most of its length in communication with the interior of the shaft. The handle has a grooved knob and adjacent resilient cap for retaining a needle. A sliding member is positioned on the shaft adjacent the needle. The intermediate portion of the suture is looped through an elastic hole in order to maintain it in tension. In use, the anchor is driven into tissue. As the driver is withdrawn, the suture pulls out of the elastic hole and through the shaft. The suture then pulls the needle from the groove. A portion of the needle slides in the slot as the needle travels along the cannula. The sliding member is pulled along by the needle. The sliding member protects the needle and helps to control the rate of its withdrawal.

Suture anchor driver

A template is disclosed for use in preparing a contouring model for a bone plate to be implanted on a bone. The bone plate is the type comprising an elongated strip having at least two screw holes formed therein, adjacent screw holes being joined together by unapertured regions of the elongated strip. The template has a silhouette substantially resembling a selected bone plate, with first portions corresponding to the locations of the screw holes. The first portions are bridged by second portions corresponding to the locations of the unapertured regions of the strip. The second portions are of reduced width relative to a corresponding unapertured region of the bone plate, whereby the template is deformable in the region of the second portions by manual pressure.

The transport carrier of this invention is configured for use with an external fixator having a hexagonal rod. The carrier includes a threaded sleeve which accommodates the hexagonal rod of the fixator. A compressible ball collet and retaining nut are carried by the sleeve and serve to lock the sleeve into position on the rod in a known manner. A clamp is carried by the sleeve and rotationally fixed relative to the rod by a key and key way, yet may shift along the sleeve. The clamp is configured to connect to one or more bone pins using a ball collet and retaining nut to fix the clamp to the pin. The bone pins connect to a bone fragment such that as the clamp shifts along the sleeve, the bone fragment is transported between two portions of a bone. An internally threaded sleeve is carried by the externally threaded sleeve and engages the clamp. Upon rotation of the internally threaded sleeve, the clamp and externally threaded sleeve move longitudinally along the sleeve.

Transport carriage for an external fixator

The invention is directed to an apparatus for externally reducing and/or fixating a fracture in a bone. The apparatus includes a radiolucent rod, and a carriage assembly with a clamp assembly for connection to a fixation pin. A sleeve is threadingly connected with the carriage assembly and is disposed about the rod. A clamping device interconnects the sleeve with the rod at a selective one of a plurality of locations along a length of the rod. Rotation of the sleeve relative to the carriage assembly moves the rod in an axial direction relative to the carriage assembly.

An external fixation apparatus 2 that allows the transfixation wire 10 to be secured at a plurality of discrete positions to provide adjustability of the angular orientation of the wire with respect to the plane of a frame ring 6. The fixation apparatus 2 includes a transfixation wire or pin 10 that is connected between a transmitting clamp 20 and a receiving clamp 40 that are shiftably carried atop of a partial frame ring 6. A wire retainer 50 is secured to the distal end 14 of the transfixation wire. The receiving clamp 40 includes a raised member 46 adapted for receiving distal end 14 of wire 10 and mating with retainer 50 at a variety of discrete positions along the length of raised member 46. Retainer 50 uses two screws 54, 56 to secure distal end 14 of wire 10 within a longitudinal through bore 51. Screw 54 extends into longitudinal bore 51 to engage wire 10 near the proximal end of retainer 50. Screw 56 extends into longitudinal bore 51 and bends the distal end 14 of wire 10 downward within a slot 53 defined along longitudinal bore 51 at the distal end of retainer 50. Bending the distal end 14 of wire 10 within retainer 50 improves the connection between wire 10 and retainer 50.
