A security switch for detecting an actuator comprises a magnetic field source, a magnetically susceptible object, and a circuit. The magnetic field source is configured to produce a magnetic field gradient. The magnetically susceptible object is suspended at a first position at least in part due to the magnetic field gradient and shiftable to a second position when the actuator affects the magnetic field gradient. The circuit is configured to detect when the object is in the second position.

Magnetic proximity sensor, security switch, and method of detecting an actuator

An intraocular lens and a method of constructing the intraocular lens are described. The intraocular lens is implanted in a human eye to treat conditions of the eye. The intraocular lens includes a central deformable optic and an annular ring coupled to the deformable optic. The intraocular lens is made by subjecting the deformable optic to compressive forces that reduce the optical power of the deformable optic, and then molding the annular lens to the deformable optic while the deformable optic is undergoing the compressive forces. Once the compressive forces are released, the deformable optic stresses the annular ring along a radial axis of the deformable optic when the intraocular lens is in a natural, unstressed state. The stress or tension between the deformable optic and the annular ring keep the deformable optic from developing deformities that cause visual aberrations.

Intraocular lens and method of constructing the same

An improved magnetic switch assembly () has a housing (), a first electrode () positioned within the housing (), a second electrode (), and a magnetically movable component () located within the housing () and shiftable between a first position in simultaneous contact with electrodes (), and a second position out of such simultaneous contact. The electrode () has a radially enlarged contact section () adjacent the free end thereof which prevents hangup or sticking of component () in the first position.

Magnetic switch

Switch apparatus (), designed to detect relative movement between first and second members (), includes a switch assembly () comprising a switch unit (), a biasing element (), and an operating member (). The unit () has a conductive housing () with first, second, and third electrical pin contacts (-) and a shiftable body (). The body () is magnetically correlated with both the element () and operating member (). When the members () are close, the operating member () maintains the shiftable body () in one switch position, whereas when the members () are separated, the biasing element () magnetically moves body () to another switch position, thereby detecting the relative movement).

Four-contact magnetic switch apparatus

Switch apparatus () includes a switching assembly () and an operating component assembly () respectively designed for mounting upon relative shiftable members, such as a door () and frame (). The assembly () includes a magnetic switch unit () having an elongated housing (), first and second spaced apart switch elements (), and a shiftable, electrically conductive body () within the housing and movable between a first switch state where the body is in simultaneous contact with the switch elements (), and a second switch state where the body is not in such simultaneous contact. In order to prevent unauthorized opening of the relatively shiftable members through use of an external defeat magnet (), the switch unit () is mounted substantially horizontally rather than in an upright or oblique orientation.

Wireless alarm switch assembly

An intraocular lens () having focusing capabilities permitting focusing movement of the lens () in response to normal ciliary body () movement incident to changes in the distance between the eye and an object under observation is provided. The lens () is designed for surgical implantation within the capsule () of an eye () and includes an optic () and an optic positioning element () which cooperate to form the lens (). Accommodation is achieved by relying upon the thickening and thinning of the optic () as a result of the normal retracting and contracting of the ciliary body () in response to the distance of an object from the viewer.

A high security switch for use with an alarm includes a switch assembly for mounting to a fixed structural member. The switch assembly includes a pressure sensitive switch; a magnetic attractive movable body; a cavity having a first end and second end, the cavity confining, directing, limiting and defining the travel of the movable body; and a biasing element near the first end of the cavity to position the moveable body adjacent the first end of the cavity. The switch also includes an actuating element coupled to a movable structural member. In response to moving the actuating element away from the switch assembly the moveable body is magnetically acted upon by the biasing and moved from the second end to the first end of the cavity. The electrical state of the pressure sensitive switch is changed and an alarm activated.

High security switch device

An intraocular lens is disclosed with an optic that changes shape in response to forces exerted by the zonules of the eye. A haptic with an inner and outer ring couples the optic to the capsular bag of the eye. The haptic stresses the optic when the intraocular lens is in a natural state such that the internal stress is present throughout the accommodation range in order to prevent ripples and/or waves in the optic.

Improved, magnetic high security switch apparatus is provided for use in detecting relative movement between first and second members such as a door frame and door from a close position, wherein the members are proximal, and an open position, where the members are separated. The switch apparatus includes a magnetic shiftable ball switch assembly having an elongated housing and a shiftable ball therein, which traverses an oblique path of travel between respective switch states in response to relative movement between the first and second members. Preferably, the housing is oriented at an oblique angle relative to the horizontal in order to prevent defeat of the switch apparatus through use of an external defeat magnet.

High security burglar alarm device

An intraocular lens having a light-transmitting optic () comprised of a synthetic light-refractive material () operably coupled with a flexible optic positioning member () to refract light onto the retina in order to correct refractive errors in the eye (). The refractive material has an index of refraction of from about 1.36 to 1.5 or higher. The optic positioning member () is constructed of a flexible synthetic resin material such as polymethylmethacrylate and permits focusing upon objects located near to and far from the viewer. The optic () of the present invention possess greater refractive capability than optics conventionally used in IOL construction, and permits retinal receipt of the image being viewed in order to correct refractive errors.

Tamper-resistant switch assemblies are provided including a first movement-sensing switch and a second tamper-sensing switch assembly, the latter including a switchable component and an actuating component. Preferably, the switch and switch assembly are housed within an encapsulated switch module, with the actuating component positioned above or to the side of the module. Mounting structure serves to support the module within a mounting opening and is operable to prevent removal of the switchable component and actuating component without significant relative shifting movement between the switchable component and actuating component. Any attempted tampering results in such relative shifting movement, thereby triggering an alarm.
