Disclosed is a method for reducing friction in a radial drilling application. The method involves coating the interior of a deflector shoe with a lubricant. Lubrication of the deflector show can be accomplished by applying a wet lubricant to the interior of the deflector shoe or spraying a dry lubricant on the interior of the deflector shoe. The method can further include coating a hose and/or a jet nozzle, passing the hose and/or jet nozzle through the coated interior of the deflector shoe. The method can further include coating components of a milling cutter, and passing the components of the milling cutter through the coated interior of the deflector shoe. An apparatus for reducing friction in a radial drilling application is also disclosed.

A product such as a tire includes a radio frequency identification device (RFID) assembly located along an outer sidewall. The RFID assembly has a thin, flexible, substantially planar, elongated non-conductive rubber, elastomer, or polymer substrate. First and second thin, flexible, elongated, substantially planar first antenna portions formed at least in part of the same conductive rubber, elastomer, or polymer are provided on the substrate. Opposite first and second ends of the first antenna portion have different first and second widths. A chip has opposite first and second ends in operative electrical connection with the first and second antenna portions, respectively, and is located between the outer sidewall and the substrate.

A product such as a tire includes a radio frequency identification device (RFID) assembly located along an outer sidewalk The RFID assembly has a thin, flexible, substantially planar, elongated non-conductive rubber, elastomer, or polymer substrate. An RFID device for tires utilizes a wireless antenna. The antenna is formed of a pair of spaced apart electrically conductive rubber units. The conductive rubber antenna is encapsulated between a pair of non-conductive sheets. A third non-conductive member encircles the conductive rubber antenna and is itself sealed between the first and second sheets of non-conductive material. A microchip is positioned in the slot defined by the space between the units and conductively attached to each of the units.

A device for handling fish eggs and other benthic macro invertebrates is provided for removal from a surface of a waterway. An enlarged, generally planar housing has a lower surface formed of a material having sufficient flexibility so that a vacuum that communicates through a collector cavity can remove fish eggs, for example, from a waterway. Fish eggs can be destroyed, either with high pressure fluid that may be a part of the vacuum assembly, or mechanically destroyed, or alternatively the fish eggs may be filtered or separated from the remainder of the collected material. Fluid such as water, saline, chemical or toxins, warm water, etc., are preferably introduced into the waterway surface about the periphery of the housing to treat and/or dislodge the fish eggs.

A device for generating electrical energy has a sheet of piezo material with an array of holes formed therein. At least some of the holes are filled with ferro fluid which expands in the holes upon being subjected to a change in magnetic energy. The sheet of piezo material generates an electrical potential in response to applied mechanical strain caused by the expansion of the ferro fluid in the holes of the piezo sheet.

A piezo magnetostrictive device has a sheet of piezo material with an array of holes formed therein. At least some of the holes are filled with a magnetostrictive material which converts magnetic energy to mechanical energy by exhibiting a change in length or breadth upon being subjected to a change in magnetic energy. The sheet of piezo material generates an electrical potential in response to applied mechanical strain caused by such change in length or width of the magnetostrictive material in the holes.

An apparatus and method for removing sediment from a waterway using a high pressure water spray and a suction line () is disclosed. The high pressure water is directed through a pressure line () that may be mounted inside the suction line (). The high pressure water helps to suspend sediment that has settled in the waterway. Water and suspended sediment is then vacuumed up by the suction line () and deposited outside the water for further treatment or disposal. The apparatus () is designed to be hand-held by an individual situated in the waterway, such that great control over which specific locations within the waterway are being treated.
