A portable griddle stove has two non-stick cooking surfaces, either of which can withstand being on the underside of the cooking surface in use and the heat applied to the underside surface. A heat shield and heat diffuser control the temperature applied to the underside of the cooking surface by providing radiant heat to the center portion of the cooking surface and cooling the combustion gas diffused to the perimeter of the cooking surface. Secondary air provided through openings in case the and heat shield assist in cooling the combustion gas.

Heat distribution system

A heater provides both radiant heat and light. The heater provides radiant heat via a heater assembly which includes a gas burner heating a screen; the screen in turn provides radiant heat. The heater includes a light assembly which may provide light by, for example, burning gas fuel, or by other means such as electricity. The heater may include a heat reflector which can be removed and compacted or disassembled for storage. The light assembly may include easily removable glass panels surrounding the light source. Each glass panel is mounted to the lighting assembly by tabs extending from the bottom of the glass panel and a thumbscrew connection attaching the top portion of the glass panel to the lighting assembly. Hot exhaust gasses generated by the lighting assembly may escape through vents near the top of the lighting assembly, below the heating assembly.

A gas operated lantern includes a control mechanism whereby a user may start gas flow through the lantern, operate a choke, and ignite the lantern. The user may perform these operations using the same control in an easy, simple series of motions. The user may rotate a knob, rotating a stem, to start gas flow and press the knob axially inward along the stem to operate a choke and an igniter.

A portable heater assembly includes a fan module, an electrical ignition assembly, a heating apparatus, and an encasement. The encasement supports and houses the fan module, the electrical ignition assembly, and the heating apparatus. The fan module includes a fan, an electric switch, and electrical wiring, the electrical wiring interconnecting the fan, electric switch and a power source. The electric switch activates the fan by forming a closed electrical circuit within the electrical wiring between the power source and the fan. The electrical ignition assembly includes an electrical ignition device, a spark-emitting electrode tip protruding from the electrical ignition device, and an ignition activator connected to the electrical ignition device by an activator connector. The heating apparatus includes a combustion chamber having a catalyst-containing substrate in proximity to the spark-emitting electrode tip, an air-fuel mixer connected to the combustion chamber, and regulator valve assembly connecting the air-fuel mixer to a source of fuel. The air-fuel mixer provides a uniform mixture of fuel and primary air that is ignited by the spark-emitting electrode tip for combustion in the combustion chamber. The use of primary air improves efficiency and reduces the reliance on secondary air. Limiting the proportion of primary air to approximately 15-20% of the stoichiometric mass of air required substantially reduces the emission of hazardous combustion by-products such as carbon monoxide.

A pressurized fluid container for use with a cam-activated fluid outlet connector. The container includes a canister, for containing pressurized fluid and a canister cap sealing an end of the canister. The cap includes (i) a base, (ii) a pedestal protruding from the base, the pedestal including a non-cylindrical camming surface adapted to engage a corresponding surface of the cam-activated connector, (iii) a fluid outlet disposed through the pedestal, and (iv) an annular perimeter wall extended from the base around the pedestal, the perimeter wall having a groove therein.

An appliance for burning a combustible gas, for example a liquefied petroleum gas. The appliance includes a relatively massive metal body forming a heat sink, in which there is formed a passage for flow of the combustible gas from a feed inlet to a discharge outlet. A control member controls the flow rate of the combustible gas. A mixing member for mixes primary air in with a stream of the combustible gas in a gaseous phase in order to obtained a mixture that can be burned. A burner burns the mixture to be burned, and is in thermal connection with the metal body. The control member includes a pressure reducer, at least partially incorporated into the metal body. The pressure reducer includes a chamber into which the combustible gas is admitted in a liquid phase at high pressure, and a chamber from which the gas is discharged at low pressure, at least partially in the gaseous phase. The chambers are formed in the metal body. The pressure reducer also includes a valve situated for the most part within the metal body.

A lantern includes a housing, a fuel inlet, and a flame guard surrounding the region in which the fuel is burned. A shield is hingedly connected to the housing to allow movement between a closed position in which the shield protects the flame guard and blocks access to the fuel inlet, and an open position. The shield may be made of two parts, and a crenulated bail may be used to hang the lantern.

A collapsible fuel-burning stove includes a burner assembly and a collapsible frame for supporting the burner assembly, the frame including a plurality of support members, the support members being pivotal relative to one another about a common axis on which the burner assembly is supported.

A connector is provided for securing a conduit to a fluid source, which source includes a noncircular cylindrical pedestal having a fluid source outlet extending therethrough and an annular groove surrounding the pedestal. The connector includes an inlet port engageable with the fluid source outlet and an outlet port in fluid communication with the inlet port and engageable with the conduit. A collet includes a base, and a plurality of fingers extending from the base substantially parallel to an axis of the inlet port, each finger being disposed a common radial distance from the axis of the inlet port and including a radially extending pawl spaced from the base. An annular cam has a noncircular cylindrical receptacle correspondingly engageable with the noncircular cylindrical pedestal of the fluid source and having an axis coincident with the axis of the inlet port. The cam is seated within the collet and disposed to rotate about the coincident axes, so that when the pedestal is engaged with the receptacle, rotation of the pedestal causes the cam to rotate. The cam includes a contact surface which, when the cam is rotated by rotation of the pedestal, abuts the fingers of the collet and forces the pawls away from the coincident axes into the annular groove to secure the conduit to the fluid source.

An LPG canister connector for a combustion appliance having a flow path from a canister containing liquid fuel and having a cap with outlet means at the upstream end of the flow path, a valve assembly adapted to be connected to the cap and equipped with a conduit adapted to be connected to a combustion appliance at the downstream end of the flow path, and promoters for vaporization of said fuel being located intermediate the ends of the flow path.

A lantern includes an elongated tubular mantle which is attached to a burner assembly by a spring clip and an electronic ignitor for igniting fuel which flows into the mantle. The mantle is surrounded by a globe, and a wire guard surrounds the globe. A ventilator cap is removably attached to the burner assembly and to the wire guard so that the cap, wire guard, and globe can be removed as a unit from the burner assembly. A nut is rotatably captured on the ventilator cap for attaching the ventilator cap to the burner assembly. The fuel tank includes a wide, molded base which provides stable support. An air pump for the fuel tank includes a check valve which automatically opens and closes as air is pumped and a pressure indicator to indicate when the fuel tank reaches operating pressure. The pump is automatically lubricated on each stroke.
