Data storage system connectors are described for a parallel array of dense memory cards that allow high airflow. In one example, a connector has a horizontal plane board having a plurality of memory connectors aligned in a row and a plurality of external interfaces, a plurality of memory cards, each having an edge connector at one end of the memory card to connect to a respective memory connector of the board, each memory card extending horizontally parallel to each other memory card and extending vertically and orthogonally from the board, and a plurality of interface connectors each to connect an edge connector to a respective board connector, the interface connectors extending horizontally from the one end of the memory cards and vertically to the respective plane board connector.

The present disclosure relates to an extensible memory hub. An apparatus may include a first extensible non-volatile memory (NVM) hub (EN hub). The first EN hub includes an upstream interface port configured to couple the first EN hub to an NVM controller or to a second EN hub; a downstream interface port configured to couple the first EN hub to a third EN hub or to a NVM device; at least one NVM device port, each NVM device port configured to couple the first EN hub to a respective NVM device via a NVM channel; and an EN hub controller. The EN hub controller includes command logic configured to initialize the first EN hub in response to an initialize chain command from the NVM controller, the initializing including enumerating each NVM device coupled to the first EN hub and each of one or more associated NVM dies.

Extensible memory hub

A data storage system is described with an array of front fans and moving doors for airflow control. In one example an enclosure is configured to mount in a rack. A horizontal plane board in the enclosure has memory connectors aligned in a row and external interfaces. Memory cards connect to a respective memory connector of the board. Removable fans at the front of the enclosure push air along the memory cards to the rear and doors at the front of the enclosure, each have an open position to accommodate a corresponding fan and a closed position to block airflow when the corresponding fan is removed.

A system, device, method and computer program to control and set LEDs associated with ports that are non-protocol aware is accomplished. This system, device, method and computer program does not interfere with the normal operation of protocol aware ports. Utilizing this system, device, method and computer program, savings in time and effort for installation and debug of a network system is realized.
