Bridging strongly ordered write transactions to devices in weakly ordered domains, and related apparatuses, methods, and computer-readable media are disclosed. In one aspect, a host bridge device is configured to receive strongly ordered write transactions from one or more strongly ordered producer devices. The host bridge device issues the strongly ordered write transactions to one or more consumer devices within a weakly ordered domain. The host bridge device detects a first write transaction that is not accepted by a first consumer device of the one or more consumer devices. For each of one or more write transactions issued subsequent to the first write transaction and accepted by a respective consumer device, the host bridge device sends a cancellation message to the respective consumer device. The host bridge device replays the first write transaction and the one or more write transactions that were issued subsequent to the first write transaction.

Bridging strongly ordered write transactions to devices in weakly ordered domains, and related apparatuses, methods, and computer-readable media

A modular infrastructure for a computer server rack, comprising modular server chassis, each chassis configured to receive a plurality of servers and two network switches. The switches are redundantly coupled to each server in the same chassis via point to point links within a data backplane. The rack further comprises redundant AC to DC power supplies configured to transmit power to a power backplane in each of the server chassis through a power bus bar. DC power is provided by both power supplies to each server in the rack through the power bus bar and a power backplane located in the same chassis. Each power supply is sufficient to power the entire rack. Servers within separate chassis are coupled into the same network by merely daisy chaining the switches in the rack. Individual servers are deployed by sliding the servers into a server chassis to engage connectors in the backplanes.

Redundant data and power infrastructure for modular server components in a rack

A system allows queuing interconnect transactions of a first transaction type and a second transaction type according to an interconnect protocol for a computer system in a transaction order queue (TOQ). The queuing technique imposes an additional ordering on interconnect transactions in addition to ordering rules of the interconnect protocol. Transactions can bypass the TOQ if no transactions of the first type are awaiting execution or are in the TOQ. Transactions are dequeued from the TOQ if no transactions of either the first transaction type or the second transaction type are awaiting scheduling for execution.

Method and apparatus for ordering interconnect transactions in a computer system

A computer system with a SCSI backplane board has duplex-ready logic for switching the computer system between a SCSI simplex mode and a SCSI duplex mode. The duplex-ready logic includes a set of bus quick switches, a duplex-ready logic controller, and a set or sets of active terminators. The SCSI simplex mode and SCSI duplex mode are configured by the duplex-ready logic controller based on the number of SCSI cables present. If only a primary SCSI cable is present, the duplex-ready logic controller enables a SCSI simplex mode. To enable a SCSI simplex mode, the bus switches are enabled and the terminators are selectively enabled and/or disabled. If a primary SCSI cable and a secondary SCSI cable are present, the duplex-ready logic controller enables a SCSI duplex mode. To enable a SCSI duplex mode, the bus switches are disabled and the terminators are selectively disabled and/or enabled. The duplex-ready logic controller optionally may change to SCSI identification values for a set of SCSI devices for a SCSI duplex mode and restore the SCSI identification values for a SCSI simples mode. In manually configuring the state of the SCSI backplane for the secondary SCSI duplex mode, the chassis is minimally disassembled to allow for installation of a SCSI cable from a secondary SCSI controller to the SCSI duplex-ready backplane board. The SCSI duplex-ready backplane board both eliminates the need for a board changeout and a duplex-option kit and reduces the disassembly and reassembly required to configure the state of the SCSI backplane of a computer system for a SCSI simplex mode or a SCSI duplex mode.
