A face mask for covering the nose and mouth of the wearer for supplying breathing gas thereto and a pair of strapless goggles which are easily and quickly donnable. The goggles are detachably attachable to the face mask by a tongue-and-groove connection wherein the tongue of the goggles is snapped into the face mask groove. Buttons are provided at the groove entrance for locking the tongue in the groove, the goggles being removable by depressing the buttons and sliding the tongue out over the depressed buttons. A face mask strap is coupled with hooks on the goggles frame for holding the goggles sealingly against the wearer's face. A vent is provided for supplying breathing gas to the goggles for venting thereof so as to prevent the entrance of smoke or disabling gases and to defog the lens.

Quick donning goggles for use with breathing mask

An apparatus (10) for the controlled heating of fluid comprises a general elongated electrically heating core (16) with an exterior surface (36) formed of a material having a high thermal conductivity and frustoconically shaped to slidingly receive an assembly (14) so that the assembly envelops the surface along at least a portion of the length of the core. The assembly (14) forms a sealed passageway (46) for generally unidirectional sheet-like flow upward along the core (16). A control system (20) selectively operates the heating core (16) so that the fluid, under varying flow rates, is warmed to a desired temperature without overheating, before the fluid flows from the passageway (46).

Blood warming apparatus

A detachable assembly for an apparatus (10) for the controlled heating of fluid is provided. The apparatus (10) has a general elongated heating core (16) with a exterior surface (36) formed of a material having a high thermal conductivity and frustoconically shaped to slidingly receive an assembly (14) so that the assembly envelops the surface along at least a portion of the length of the core. Container for use with blood warming apparatus

A fastener for attaching a button or the like to a garment or piece of fabric is provided, the button having an outer surface and two or more holes. The fastener comprises a U-shaped filament, a first foot at one end of the filament, and a second foot at the opposite end of the filament. The fastener is constructed of plastic except for the filament or at least a portion thereof which is made of thread. The first foot and the second foot are appropriately dimensioned so as to be insertable through two holes in the button as well as through the garment in such a way as to be retained by the underside of the garment. The length of the portion of the filament made of thread is sized so that when the first and second feet of the fastener are inserted through the button holes and the garment, only thread is visible over the outer surface of the button so as to give the illusion that the button has been attached to the garment or piece of material using only thread. In one embodiment of the present invention, the first and second feet are in the shape of elongated bars perpendicular to the filament.
