A method, system, and computer-readable medium for backing up and/or restoring user-specific settings for one or more IP telecommunications terminals. A backup process is initiated through a user interface of the IP telecommunications terminal. A file name and a backup file are supplied from the telecommunication terminal during a backup process. The backup file is transferred to an HTTP server and the backup file is transferred to the IP telecommunications terminal or other terminals in response to an HTTP GET message received from an IP telecommunications terminal connected to the HTTP server. Accordingly, multiple users can enjoy customized user-interfaces at multiple locations and across multiple platforms.

Telephone stations with independent backup/restore feature

A network apparatus and method for managing power supplied to a network device. A plurality of power inputs to the network device are scanned to ascertain if a power signal is present and to identify an active power source. Available power is determined from the active power source and required power for the network device and any operatively connected auxiliary devices is also determined. The required power is compared to available power to determine if available power is sufficient to power the network device. An operation of the network device is controlled based upon the active power source and/or if available power is insufficient to power the network device.

Apparatus and methods for managing power distribution over Ethernet

The invention includes a post call directory entry device that performs the post call directory entry function for a telephone station. The post call directory entry device includes a directory memory, a post call controller and a user interface device that includes a keypad, a microphone and a speaker. The post call controller stores a remote number in the directory memory after the telephone station is on-hook. The save number is stored in the directory memory if the directory memory is not full and if a user responds to a save request output by the post call controller. The save number is one of a dialed number entered by the user using a dialpad portion of the keypad and a remote caller telephone station number. The remote number is determined when the telephone station is off-hook.

Post call directory entry device and method

This invention provides a smart directory manager for deleting directory entries. The smart directory manager includes a directory memory, user interface devices and a directory management device. The directory management device generates a recommended delete-directory-entry of the directory memory and deletes the recommended delete-directory-entry from the directory memory when a delete instruction is received from a user. The directory management device generates the recommended delete-directory-entry by comparing information of each directory entry contained in the directory memory based on a predetermined delete strategy. The directory entry having the information that best satisfies the predetermined delete strategy is selected as the recommended delete-directory-entry.

Smart directory management

The invention provides a telephone station having a voice announce device. The telephone station includes user interface devices and a telephone station controller coupled to the user interface devices. The telephone station controller selects one of the user interface devices to announce a call from a remote caller based on a state of the telephone station. If the telephone station is in a NOT-BUSY state, the telephone station controller outputs a voice print corresponding to the remote caller to a speaker of the user interface devices to announce the call. If the telephone station is in a BUSY state, the telephone station controller outputs a voice print corresponding to the remote caller to a personal interface device of the user interface devices to announce the call. If the telephone station is in a SPEAKER state, the telephone station controller outputs displayable data to a display device of the user interface devices to announce the call.

Telephone station voice announce device and method

The two-pass directory entry device includes a directory memory, a user interface device and a directory entry controller. The directory entry controller, in a first-pass, stores into the directory memory at least one name received from a user through the user interface device. In a second-pass, the directory entry controller stores at least one number received from the user through the user interface device. The directory entry controller recalls the at least one name stored in the directory memory, outputs the recalled at least one name to the user and associates the at least one number received in the second-pass with the at least one name received in the first-pass.

Two-pass directory entry device and method

The invention provides an account number dialing device for a telephone station for calling a remote party by dialing an account number and a telephone number in response to a plurality of inputs received from a user. The account number dialing device includes a user interface device, a directory memory and a controller. The controller is coupled to the directory memory and the user interface device. The controller forms a number using a plurality of numbers fetched from the directory memory in response to the plurality of inputs received from the user through the user interface device and files the number. Each of the plurality of numbers is fetched from the directory memory in response to one of the plurality of inputs from the user.

Telephone station account number dialing device and method

The invention provides a remote access telephone system that includes a telephone station which has two access numbers. The remote access telephone system responds to a first one of the two access numbers by providing remote access features and responds to a second one of the two access numbers by providing normal access features. The remote access telephone system also includes a remote access controller that prevents a remote caller from having access to the telephone station unless the remote caller dials a valid password. The remote access features includes remote dialing a number recalled from a directory memory based on a second party name spoken by the remote caller. A remote directory feature is provided when the remote caller speaks a remote directory command and a name. The remote access controller recalls a number corresponding to the name and outputs the number to the remote caller.
