A silicone release coating composition and method for its preparation and use are described. A release coating prepared by curing the silicone release coating composition has high immediate release force (>50 g/in). A release liner including the release coating is suitable for use as a transfer liner in processes for making composites articles, such as aircraft parts.

Silicone release coating composition and methods for the preparation and use of same

A curable silicone composition is disclosed. The curable silicone composition comprises: (A) a silicone resin consisting essentially of RSiOsiloxane units and SiOsiloxane units, wherein each R is the same or different, and independently selected from halogen-substituted or unsubstituted monovalent hydrocarbon groups free of aliphatic unsaturated bonds; (B) an organopolysiloxane having at least two alkenyl groups per molecule and free of SiOsiloxane units in the organopolysiloxane; (C) an organosiloxane having at least three silicon atom-bonded hydrogen atoms per molecule; and (D) a hydrosilylation catalyst. The curable silicone composition can be cured to form a cured product having a high tensile strength in addition to a low modulus.

A curable silicone composition is disclosed. The curable silicone composition comprises: (A) a linear organopolysiloxane having at least two alkenyl groups and at least one aryl group in a molecule; (B) a branched organopolysiloxane represented by the average unit formula; (C) an organosiloxane having at least two silicon atom-bonded hydrogen atoms in a molecule; and (D) a hydrosilylation reaction catalyst. The curable silicone composition forms a cured product having good mechanical properties and good retention of transparency under conditions of high temperature.

A silicone resin is disclosed. The silicone resin is free from carbon atoms. A method of preparing the resin is additionally disclosed. This method comprises reacting a silane compound and a precursor compound, thereby preparing the silicone resin. A composition including the silicon resin and a vehicle is further disclosed. A method of preparing a film with the composition is also disclosed. This method comprises applying the composition including the silicone resin and the vehicle to a substrate to form a layer. This method also includes heating the layer to give the film.

A smart optical material characterized in that when the material is at ambient temperature (&#x2264;30&#xb0; C.), it is opaque to at least one color light in the visible light spectrum and when the material is at an elevated temperature of at least 80&#xb0; C., it is substantially transparent to the at least one color light. The smart optical material is also characterized as having before thermal aging an elongation-at-break of at least 15% and after thermal aging in air at 200&#xb0; C. for seven days an elongation-at-break that is unchanged or is at least 12% and has decreased by from &#x3e;0% to less than 50%. Smart optical materials, formulations, methods, uses, articles, and devices

The present invention relates to a curable silicone composition comprising: (A) an organopolysiloxane having at least two alkenyl groups and at least one aryl group in a molecule, (B) an organopolysiloxane having at least two silicon atom-bonded hydrogen atoms in a molecule, (C) an organopolysiloxane having at least one aryl group in a molecule and containing a metal atom selected from the group consisting of V, Ta, Nb and Ce, and (D) a hydrosilylation-reaction catalyst. The present invention can provide the curable silicone composition, which does not develop a crack by thermal aging and further can form a cured material that exhibits less yellowing.

An additive for a silicone encapsulant has the structure: Formula (I) wherein Rand Rare each &#x2014;O&#x2014;Si(R)(R)(R) and each of R, R, and Ris independently chosen from C-Chydrocarbyl groups, C-Calkyl groups, C-Calkenyl groups, and C-Caryl groups, and wherein Ris independently chosen from C-Chydrocarbyl groups, C-Calkyl groups, C-Calkenyl groups, and C-Caryl groups. The additive is formed using a method that includes the step of reacting iron metal or an iron (III) compound with a hydroxyl functional organosiloxane. An encapsulant includes the additive and a polyorganosiloxane. The encapsulant can be utilized to form a device that includes an electronic component and the encapsulant disposed on the electronic component. The device is formed using a method that includes the step of disposing the encapsulant on the electronic device. 

Additive for a silicone encapsulant

An aryl group-containing siloxane composition is formed by introducing an alkaline earth-metal as a part of the reaction product of an organopolysiloxane having at least two alkenyl groups per molecule and an organopolysiloxane having at least two silicon-bonded hydrogen atoms per molecule in the presence of a hydrosilylation catalyst, wherein at least one of the organopolysiloxanes includes an aryl group. The alkaline earth metal may be introduced via a heat stability composition or may alternatively be pre-reacted with the organopolysiloxane having at least two alkenyl groups per molecule. The aryl group-containing siloxane compositions may be utilized as an encapsulating layer for a light emitting device.

An additive for a silicone encapsulant has the structure: (I) RCe(OSi&#x2014;R) I I a Rwherein a is 3 or 4, wherein Rand Rare each &#x2014;O&#x2014;Si(R)(R)(R) and each of R, R, and Ris independently chosen from C-Chydrocarbyl groups, C-Calkyl groups, C-Calkenyl groups, and C-Caryl groups, and wherein Ris independently chosen from C-Chydrocarbyl groups, C-Calkyl groups, C-Calkenyl groups, and C-Caryl groups. More specifically, the cerium is cerium (III) or (IV). The additive is formed using a method that includes the step of reacting cerium metal or a cerium (III) or (IV) compound with a hydroxyl functional organosiloxane. An encapsulant includes the additive and a polyorganosiloxane. The encapsulant can be utilized to form a device that includes an optoelectronic component and the encapsulant disposed on the optoelectronic component. The device is formed using a method that includes the step of disposing the encapsulant on the optoelectronic device.

Polyheterosiloxane compositions are disclosed containing at least 70% by weight of the following components: (A) a first metal (M1) selected from Ti, Zr, or Zn, (B) a second metal (M2) selected from a non-lanthanide metal, (C) siloxy units having the formula RSiOor R'SiO, where R&#x2032; is independently a hydrocarbon group or halogen substituted hydrocarbon group containing 1 to 18 carbon atoms. The disclosed compositions are useful to prepare high refractive index materials.

Solid compositions of organosiloxane block copolymers are disclosed having a tensile strength greater than 1.0 MPa and a % elongation at break greater than 40%. The organosiloxane block copolymers comprise: 40 to 90 mole percent disiloxy units of the formula [RSiO] 10 to 60 mole percent trisiloxy units of the formula [RSiO] 0.5 to 35 mole percent silanol groups [&#x2261;SiOH] where Ris independently a Cto Chydrocarbyl, Ris independently a Cto Chydrocarbyl, wherein; the disiloxy units [RSiO] are arranged in linear blocks having an average of from 10 to 400 disiloxy units [RSiO] per linear block, the trisiloxy units [RSiO] are arranged in non-linear blocks having a molecular weight of at least 500 g/mol, and at least 30% of the non-linear blocks are crosslinked with each other, each linear block is linked to at least one non-linear block, and the organosiloxane block copolymer has a molecular weight (M) of at least 20,000 g/mole.
