A method and apparatus for preparing connecting straps and end terminals for lead batteries by filling selected cavities of the mold is disclosed. The mold has cavities for casting connecting straps and an end terminal. Molten lead is filled up to an amount of lead sufficient to fill the preselected cavities of the mold. The content of the mold is brought together with inverted plate lugs of grouped battery plates to fuse the plate lugs together with the content of the mold prior to solidification. The method and apparatus includes a first mold block having at least three mold cavities in an upper face thereof, whereby at least two preselected cavities of the at least three mold cavities are translationally aligned to be filled with lead.

Method and apparatus for casting straps onto storage battery plates

A mobile AC power system wherein the DC current of battery is converted by a power inverter electrically coupled to the battery terminals and the inverter is also mechanically coupled the battery. An AC outlet is positioned to provide a source of power and the unit has a power input being configured to receive a charging current for the battery. The AC outlet is disabled when the power input is receiving a charge.

Apparatus and method for providing a mobile AC power supply

An automotive battery is positioned in a tray secured with the vehicle. The tray and the battery have cooperating extensions and projections which hold the battery in position on the tray. A pivotally mounted handle on the battery engages in notches on a vertical stanchion formed on the tray. The battery is secured in the tray through the cooperation of the extensions and projections and the handle and the stanchion. The handle has a pair of spaced notches in which the battery cables are secured to prevent relative movement between the battery and the cable terminal connections.

Battery handle holddown

The present invention provides an external battery package unit (10) which houses mechanical and electrical components (32, 34) intended to be electrically connected to a battery (20) and be conveniently mounted to a top surface (22) of the battery (20). The battery unit (10) is made to fit within existing battery size constraints. In an exemplary embodiment, the external battery package unit (10) comprises a first housing (32) which acts as a mechanical compartment and a second housing (34) which acts as an electronics compartment. The first and second housings (32, 34) are secured to one another by a mounting member (30) which adjustably receives a portion of the first and second housings (32, 34) so that a distance between ends of the first and second housings (32, 34) is variable and the relationship between the first and second housings (32, 34) may be adjusted according to external parameters, such as the size of the battery (20) and different tolerances between battery post terminals.
