Various embodiments of the present invention provide for systems and apparatus directed toward using a contact lens and deflection optics to process display information and non-display information. In one embodiment of the invention, a display panel assembly is provided, comprising: a transparent substrate that permits light to pass through substantially undistorted; a reflector disposed on the transparent substrate; and a display panel aimed toward the reflector and substantially away from a human visual system, wherein the reflector reflects light emitted from the display panel toward the human visual system. The reflector may comprise a narrow band reflector or a polarization reflector.

System and apparatus for see-through display panels

Various embodiments of the present invention provide systems, methods, and processes for constructing a contact lens. In one embodiment, a contact lens assembly is provided, comprising: a curved polymer polarizer with an aperture; a lenslet disposed inside the aperture wherein the lenslet enables imaging near objects; and a filter attached to the lenslet. In further embodiments, a method for fabricating a flexible contact lens is provided, comprising: fabricating an element having an extrusion; providing a front concave mold, wherein the front mold has an intrusion to accommodate the extrusion of the optical element; affixing the extrusion of the optical element to the intrusion of the front mold; attaching a back convex mold to the front concave mold, thereby forming a mold cavity; and filling the mold cavity with a pre-polymerized liquid, whereby upon polymerization, the pre-polymerized liquid forms the flexible contact lens and the optical element is partially encapsulated within the lens.

Method and apparatus for constructing a contact lens with optics

An optical apparatus has an electroluminescent display energizable to emit image-bearing light along an optical axis. A reflective polarizer reflects light of a first polarization state and transmit light of a second polarization state orthogonal to the first polarization state. A quarter wave plate in the path of transmitted light of the second polarization state imparts retardance to conveyed light. A curved, partially reflective surface transmits incident light. An exit lens directs light from the curved, partially reflective surface to an exit pupil, with an eye relief of less than the focal length of an eye, wherein the optical apparatus forms an image with a field of view exceeding 40 degrees horizontally and 20 degrees vertically. The optical apparatus is configured for seating directly against the face of the viewer, to form the image peripheral to a primary field of view.

A bow and stern thruster apparatus includes a motor, a propeller, a battery, a radio receiver, control logic, and power driver circuitry; together forming a fully integrated thruster unit that slides up and down along a guide device to a hull attachment fixture near the water line of a boat. The deployed thruster unit can act as a bow or a stern thruster depending on where the guide device and attachment fixture are mounted to the boat. The thruster unit is retracted by raising it along the guide device to be stowed well above the water line, or to be removed entirely from the hull.

A method includes molding a lens, the lens including a front portion and a rear portion and an intermediate portion therebetween, the rear portion adapted to be disposed in the direction of the back of the eye, the front portion adapted to be disposed in the direction of the front of an eye, wherein molding the lens includes disposing conductive parallel nanofilaments on or within the lens. A molded contact lens includes a rear portion adapted to be disposed in the direction of the back of the eye, and a front portion that is adapted to be disposed in the direction of the front of the eye. The molded lens includes conductive parallel nanofilaments located on or within a central region of the molded lens.

A tracking system for tracking an eye including a light source projecting light toward a display surface in a sequential pattern, one or more reflectors associated with an optical device, where the one or more reflectors reflect the pulses of light from the display source, one or more photo detectors, where the photo detectors detect reflected pulses of light from the light source, and a system that measures pulse timing relative to horizontal and vertical pattern to compute a gaze angle of the eye.

Various embodiments of the present invention provide for systems and apparatuses directed toward using a display panel to processes display information and non-display information. Further embodiments, utilize a display panel in conjunction with a contact lens assembly configured to process the display information. In one embodiment of the invention, a display system is provided, comprising: a display panel disposed on a head-borne apparatus such that when a viewer is wearing the head-borne apparatus, the display panel is positioned in close proximity to an eye of the viewer such that the eye is unable to focus on the display panel unassisted; and a contact lens having focusing optics that assists the eye in focusing on the display panel. Within the display system, the display panel has pixels and is configured without focusing optics, thereby allowing light emitted by the pixels to diverge in an unfocused manner.

Briefly, in accordance with one or more embodiments, an input device may be utilized in conjunction with a scanned beam display or the like, or may be based on the scanning platform as used in a scanned beam display such as a MEMS based scanner. An input event such as illumination of a photodetector or reflection of a scanned beam off of a retroreflector may be correlated with a timing event of the scanning platform such as a refresh signal, or a horizontal and vertical sync signals. The correlation of the timing event may be representative of an X-Y location, and in some embodiments of a Z location, that may be utilized to provide input data back to a host device.
