A height adjustable device pit () is provided for use in installing water meters () or other equipment below ground level. The device pit () includes a lower housing section (), an upper housing section (), and a lid (). The lower housing section () and the upper housing section () are engaged with each other by mating screw threads () and () that are centered on a vertical, longitudinal axis (). The housing sections () are movable relative to each other along the longitudinal axis () to adjust the vertical height of the device pit () in response to relative rotation of the housing sections () and () about the longitudinal axis ().

A water powered sump pump () is provided and has a flow control apparatus () connected to a source of water under pressure and to a suction generator. The flow control apparatus () includes a control valve assembly () having a drain outlet () positioned to drain all or most of the water from the assembly (). The sump pump () also includes an actuator assembly () for actuating the control valve assembly via a lever () that engages the assembly () and a float assembly ().

Pump control and method

A spraying system having a control valve with an inlet port for connection to a liquid supply, a discharge port for connection to a spray nozzle, and a return port for connection to the liquid supply. The control valve includes a valve member which has a liquid flow passageway and is movable between an open position in which the liquid flow passageway communicates between the inlet and discharge ports for permitting the direction of pressurized liquid to the spray nozzle and a second position which prevents the flow of pressurized liquid to the discharge port. The spray nozzle has an associated pressure responsive check valve for preventing the flow of liquid to the spray nozzle, and hence for preventing drippage, upon movement of the control valve member to the off position. To accelerate actuation of the check valve, and hence, minimize undesired drippage and dribbling from the spray nozzle, the control valve member is formed with a relief passage separate from the liquid flow passage which upon movement of the control valve member to the off position communicates between the discharge and return ports for bleeding liquid downstream of the control valve to the return port and more rapidly lowering downstream line pressure and actuating the check valve.

Valve controlled spraying system

A spraying system is provided with a plurality of spray sections, a discharge line coupled to each of the spray sections, and a control valve connected to each discharge line for regulating the flow of liquid from the discharge line to the spray section. The control valves are mounted in side-by-side relation and each have a housing with outwardly projecting retaining flanges formed thereon. The spraying systems also including plastic mounting clamps for connecting together the retaining flanges of adjacent control valves. The plastic mounting clamps each having separate first and second clamping members. The first and second clamping members each having a respective retaining section secured in overlying relation to the retaining flanges of adjacent control valves for captively securing the retaining flanges together.
