A printer includes a printhead assembly, a service station assembly, and a controller. The printhead assembly includes nozzles to eject fluid drops. The nozzles are divided into a least two groups with each group assigned a burst drop count, a post-burst delay, and a burst order. The service station assembly is to receive fluid ejected from the nozzles during spits. The controller is to control a spit of the printhead assembly by ejecting fluid from the nozzles of each group based on the burst drop count, the post-burst delay, and the burst order of each group until a target drop count for the spit is reached.

Dividing printer spits into bursts

Ink supplies and methods to prepare an ink supply are disclosed. An example ink supply for a printer includes an ink chamber within a housing of the ink supply. The housing is removably installable within the printer. The ink chamber is to store ink. The ink supply further includes a machine readable storage medium to store a first priming parameter. The machine readable storage medium is carried by the housing of the ink supply. The first priming parameter has a value to cause the printer to configure a first priming procedure of the printer. The first priming parameter has precedence in configuring the first priming procedure over a first corresponding priming parameter stored in a second machine readable storage medium of a second ink supply installed in the printer.

Ink supplies and methods to prepare ink supplies

Methods and apparatus to prime a printhead assembly are disclosed. An example method includes drawing ink into a printhead assembly by operating a pump in fluid communication with the printhead assembly for a first period of time at a first speed. An amount of ink drawn into the printhead assembly during the first period is to be sufficient to cover nozzles of a die at an outlet of the printhead assembly. The example method further includes evacuating air within the printhead assembly by operating the pump for a second period of time after the first period of time at a second speed greater than the first speed.

Methods and apparatus to prime a printhead assembly

A printer includes a printhead assembly, a spit zone, and a controller. The printhead assembly includes nozzles to eject ink drops. The spit zone is to store maintenance ink. The controller is to move the printhead assembly over the spit zone while ink is ejected from the nozzles during spits.
