A vehicle bears labels describing handling characteristics of the vehicle for the benefit of autonomous vehicles in proximity to the vehicle. The labels may be nonvisible, such as through use of UV or IR inks. The labels may be present such that they are visible regardless of view direction and may be affixed using a vehicle wrap applied to panels of the vehicle. Autonomous vehicles detect the labels and retrieve handling characteristics from a local database or a remote server. The autonomous vehicles are therefore relieved from the processing required to predict or infer the handling characteristics of the vehicle.

Vehicle classification system

A gateway module of a vehicle may be in communication with vehicle components over a vehicle bus and with an autonomous driving system over a non-vehicle bus connection. The gateway module may be configured to send data from the vehicle bus over the connection to the autonomous driving system, receive a vehicle action request over the connection from the autonomous driving system, and provide the vehicle action request to the vehicle bus for processing by the vehicle components to autonomously drive the vehicle. The autonomous driving computing device may be configured to authenticate with the gateway module of a vehicle over the non-vehicle bus connection, receive data from the vehicle bus over the connection to the gateway module, and send the vehicle action request over the connection to the gateway module for providing to the vehicle components over the vehicle bus.

Automated driving solution gateway

A vehicle roof mount includes at least one datum feature. The datum feature is provided according to at least one datum. The at least one datum is determined according to a specified orientation of a sensor included in a sensor frame. The sensor frame is mateable to the roof mount.

Sensor apparatus

A door assembly for a vehicle includes a door and a check strap pivotally coupled to the door. An engagement member is releasably engageable with the check strap. A spring is positioned to bias the check strap toward the engagement member. When the engagement member is engaged with the check strap, the check strap maintains the door in an open position. When the engagement member is disengaged with the check strap, the door is swung to the closed position under the bias of the spring.

Automatically closing vehicle door

A system includes a processor in communication with at least one input, and configured to control at least one vehicle system. The processor is further configured to receive a command including a subjective element. The processor is also configured to access a mapping associated with a user from whom the command originated to retrieve a user-specific meaning, the mapping defining user-specific meanings for at least one subjective element. Further, the processor is configured to apply a user-specific meaning to an implementation of the command, such that a vehicle system is adjusted in accordance with both the subjective element and the user-specific meaning associated therewith.

Method and apparatus for subjective command control of vehicle systems

An computing device is configured to detect that a user device is approaching the vehicle. An identifier for the user device and an identifier for the vehicle is transmitted to a remote server. A model is used to generate settings data in the vehicle, wherein the model is generated at least in part based on the identifier for the user device and the identifier for the vehicle. At least one setting for the at least one component in the vehicle is generated according to the model, and is applied to the at least one component in the vehicle.
