A coating architecture is disclosed that includes a substrate having a surface finish Rof 0.3μ or finer, an intermediate layer overlying and in contact with the substrate; and a solid lubricant layer overlying and in contact with the intermediate layer. The test results of applying the coating architecture to a reciprocating hammer drill utilizing the coating is also disclosed.

The test results of applying the coating architecture to a reciprocating hammer drill utilizing the coating is also disclosed.

The present invention relates to a cryogenic heating system including a plurality of stages to provide accurate temperature control. The system can be used to provide non-contact heating and cooling of a test sample by use of an inert fluid. Accurate temperature control can be maintained, e.g., by use of controllers to provide temperature feedback control.

The present invention relates to an apparatus for testing a bearing, as well as systems including such an apparatus. In one instance, the apparatus allows for torsional losses of a bearing to be determined in a highly sensitive manner. Results can be determined in a controlled environment, as the system can include an environmental enclosure to encapsulate the testing apparatus.
