Methods and apparatuses for multi-channel communications are disclosed. A method provides precoding, based on sounding reference signal received from a communication device, reference signal ports in spatial and frequency domain by determining pairs of spatial and frequency domain components where the frequency domain components are arranged in clusters comprising one or more frequency domain components, and pairing of at least one of the spatial domain components with at least two clusters of frequency domain components is enabled; sending information of the precoding to the other communication device; and combining the precoding with a report of precoding received in response from the other communication device. Another method provides sending of the sounding reference signal; receiving, the information of the precoding; performing port selection operation based on the clustered information of frequency domain components; and preparing and sending the report based on the selection operation.

The invention relates to a device for a radio communications system, the device including: a processing unit; a memory unit; and a transceiver including a transmitter provided with a power amplifier; wherein said device is configurable to: send a request to a base station of said communications system for permission of transmission of one or more data symbols, the one or more data symbols being amplified with the power amplifier in an overdrive regime; receive a grant for such transmission; amplify the one or more data symbols with the power amplifier of the transmitter in the overdrive regime; and transmit the one or more data symbols to the base station.

A receiver unit comprising a signal input configured to receive a receive signal including a plurality of data symbols, a symbol detection circuit configured to detect a subset of data symbols, a reliability measuring circuit configured to determine a reliability value for the data symbols, a feedback loop configured to detect the subset of data symbols and the reliability value iteratively, and a signal output circuitry configured to determine output values of the subset of data symbols on the basis of the detected subset of data symbols and the determined reliability value.

Receiver unit and receiving method

A receiver apparatus receives a transmit signal through a plurality of transmission channels, wherein each transmission channel is described by its channel vector. A sparseness evaluation unit () may obtain a sparseness measure containing sparseness information for previously estimated frequency-domain channel vectors. From the plurality of receive signals, an estimator unit () estimates updated channel vectors for the transmission channels by applying an iterative blind channel estimation algorithm that may consider a change of the sparseness measure, out-of-band energy information and/or signal-to-noise information and cross-relations between pairs of receive signals. A combining unit () may combine the receive signals on the basis of combining coefficients derived from the estimated channel impulse responses for a pre-selected diversity combining scheme to obtain a combined receive signal representing an estimation of the transmit signal. The receiver apparatus employs an improved blind channel estimation approach.
