Suggested are degreasing compositions comprising at least one dialkyl amide according to general formula (1) RCO&#x2014;NRR(I) in which RCO stands for a linear or branched, saturated or unsaturated, aliphatic or aromatic, optionally hydroxysubstituted acyl radical having 2 to 56 carbon atoms, and Rand Rrepresent independently from each other alkyl radicals having 1 to 6 carbon atoms.

Compositions for degreasing hard surfaces

Suggested are biocide compositions, comprising (a) 2-Furoic and/or Tetrahydro-2-furoic acid amides; (b) Biocides and optionally (c) Oil components or co-solvents and/or (d) Emulsifiers. The compositions show high solubility for biocides and improved emulsification properties.

A continuous process for the production of mono- or dicarboxylic acid alkyl amides is described, which is characterized in that: fresh mono- or dicarboxylic acid is placed into a first reactor (R) connected with a distillation column (C) and subjected to a reaction with ammonia or gaseous alkyl amine to form a pre-mixture consisting of mono- or dicarboxylic acid alkyl amide and unreacted mono- or dicarboxylic acid, while the water of condensation is distilled off; said pre-mixture is transferred into a second reactor (R) also equipped with a distillation column (C) and subjected to a further reaction with ammonia or gaseous alkyl amine to substantially convert all unreacted mono- or dicarboxylic acid into mono- or dicarboxylic acid alkyl amide; and all unreacted ammonia or gaseous alkyl amine is transferred into the first reactor (R) to start the amidation reaction.

Continuous process for the production of mono- or dicarboxylic acid alkyl amides

An aqueous emulsion, including (a) a dialkylamide; and (b) a non-ionic surfactant, is provided. An emulsion, including (a) about 30% b.w. to about 70% b.w. of a dialkylamide; (b) about 5% b.w. to about 25% b.w. of a non-ionic surfactant; and (c) 0% b.w. to about 15% b.w. of an anionic surfactant, where the amounts, with water added and optional auxiliary agents, add to 100% b.w., is also provided. A method for reducing pitch in the production of paper includes adding the emulsion to pulp.

Emulsions

The invention is directed to the use of compositions (a) biocides, and (b) dialkylamides, for wood protection.

Use of biocide compositions for wood preservation

A PIT emulsion, including asphalt or bitumen; one or more non-ionic emulsifiers; optionally one or more cationic co-emulsifiers, and/or one or more solvents is provided. A PIT emulsion, including 10% to 70% b.w. asphalt or bitumen; 5% to 15% b.w. of one or more non-ionic emulsifiers; 0 to 5% b.w. of one or more cationic co-emulsifiers; and 0 to 40% b.w. of one or more solvents, where the quantities shown add up to 100% b.w. with water, and optionally other auxiliaries and additives is also provided. A method for making a finely-divided asphalt or bitumen PIT emulsion, including subjecting an aqueous mixture of asphalt or bitumen, at least one non-ionic emulsifier, and optionally a solvent to vigorous stirring to obtain a homogenous composition; heating the homogenous composition above the phase inversion temperature to obtain a PIT emulsion, and cooling the PIT emulsion is also provided.

PIT emulsions

A binder for bituminous compositions including at least one dialkylamide derived from an unsaturated fatty acid; and at least one catalyst for polymerizing the at least one dialkylamide under the action of oxygen is provided. A bituminous composition including (i) 80% b.w. to 94.9% b.w. bitumen; and (ii) a binder, that includes (a) 1% b.w. to 19% b.w. unsaturated fatty acid dialkylamides; and (b) 0.1% b.w. to 1% b.w. of a polymerization catalyst, where the amounts are calculated based on the solids content of the composition, and where the amounts total 100% b.w. is also provided. A method for preparing a binder for a bituminous composition including combining at least one unsaturated dialkylamide derived from an unsaturated fatty acid with at least one catalyst for the polymerization of the at least one dialkylamide under the action of oxygen is also provided.

Anionic polymers obtainable by: (a) esterifying maleic acid or its anhydride with alkyl polyalkylene glycols; (b) copolymerizing the esters obtained with (meth)acrylic acid; and (c) converting the polymers obtained into the salt form by addition of alkali metal bases; are disclosed.
