A smart card receiving assembly for a handheld communication device includes a housing, a release arm, and a smart card receiver. The housing forms an access compartment for receiving a battery and a smart card. The release arm is slidingly coupled to the housing and includes an extension extending downward. The smart card receiver is adapted to receive a smart card and includes a channel adapted to receive the extension. The smart card receiver can be made of metal to provide rigidity to the handheld communication device. When the release arm is moved from a first position to a second position, the extension can force the smart card from a seated position to an unseated position with the smart card sliding at least partially out of the smart card receiver and into the access compartment.

Release mechanism for a smart card

The present application provides a key assembly for use in an electronic device. The key assembly comprises a plurality of dome switches and one or more single-piece keycaps. Each keycap has a plurality of key portions separated by deforming portions. The key assembly further comprises a plurality of actuators for activating the dome switches. Each actuator has a stem portion and an enlarged rigid blocking portion. The key assembly also comprises one or more rigid blocking members disposed between the blocking portion of the actuators and the keycaps and in close proximity to the blocking portion of the actuators. The blocking members form a barrier to limit a rotational movement of the actuators away from the dome switches.

Key assembly for an electronic device having a connected keycap

Electronic device comprising frame and trim. Trim wrapped around at least three sides of the frame. Trim comprising an outer piece and an inner assembly. Outer piece of substantially continuous flexible tactile material comprising a substantially elongate first side portion, a substantially elongate second side portion substantially parallel to the first side portion, and at least one substantially elongate cross portion connecting the first and second side portions. The inner assembly comprising a substantially rigid first side inner piece substantially coextensive with the outer piece first side portion; a substantially rigid second side inner piece substantially coextensive with the outer piece second side portion; and at least one substantially rigid inner cross piece. Each cross piece substantially coextensive with the short dimension of the outer piece cross portion, and shorter than the long dimension of the outer piece cross portion, thereby creating at least one gap in the inner assembly.

Molded assembly

An actuator assembly for use in an electronic device is described. The actuator assembly includes a support tray, an actuator supported on the support tray, and a cover over the actuator and coupled to the support tray, a portion of the cover being movable relative to the support tray when the actuator is actuated.
