System, apparatus, method, and computer readable media for on-the-fly dynamic calibration of multi-camera platforms using images of multiple different scenes. Image frame sets previously captured by the platform are scored as potential candidates from which new calibration parameters may be computed. The candidate frames are ranked according to their score and iteratively added to the calibration frame set according to an objective function. The selected frame set may be selected from the candidates based on a reference frame, which may be a most recently captured frame, for example. A device platform including a CM and comporting with the exemplary architecture may enhance multi-camera functionality in the field by keeping calibration parameters current. Various computer vision algorithms may then rely upon these parameters, for example.

The device also comprises processing logic coupled to the timestamping logic to group image data from image capture devices with data from non-image capture devices using the timestamp information.

Synchronized capture of image and non-image sensor data is disclosed. In one embodiment, a device for synchronized capture comprises a synchronization signal generator to generate a synchronization (sync) signal for each of a plurality of heterogeneous capture devices and timestamping logic coupled to the synchronization signal generator to assign timestamp information to each set of data captured by individual capture devices of the plurality of capture devices to indicate when the data was captured, wherein the timestamp information is assigned based on when the sync signal is generated for its corresponding capture device and based on a first delay between when the sync signal is generated for a corresponding capture device and when processing of captured data, by a processing device, has been completed.

A task-based imaging system for obtaining data regarding a scene for use in a task includes an image data capturing arrangement for (a) imaging a wavefront of electromagnetic energy from the scene to an intermediate image over a range of spatial frequencies, (b) modifying phase of the wavefront, (c) detecting the intermediate image, and (d) generating image data over the range of spatial frequencies. The task-based imaging system also includes an image data processing arrangement for processing the image data and performing the task. The image data capturing and image data processing arrangements cooperate so that signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) of the task-based imaging system is greater than SNR of the task-based imaging system without phase modification of the wavefront over the range of spatial frequencies.

Systems and methods include optics having one or more phase modifying elements that modify wavefront phase to introduce image attributes into an optical image. A detector converts the optical image to electronic data while maintaining the image attributes. A signal processor subdivides the electronic data into one or more data sets, classifies the data sets, and independently processes the data sets to form processed electronic data. The processing may optionally be nonlinear. Other imaging systems and methods include optics having one or more phase modifying elements that modify wavefront phase to form an optical image. A detector generates electronic data having one or more image attributes that are dependent on characteristics of the phase modifying elements and/or the detector. A signal processor subdivides the electronic data into one or more data sets, classifies the data sets and independently processes the data sets to form processed electronic data.
