A method employing traffic-aware vectoring for transceiving data between a network side entity defining a network side, and at least two nodes defining a subscriber side, via a multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) communication channel, over a plurality of subcarrier frequencies, the method comprising: determining an allocation that allocates each of said subcarrier frequencies for preceding with either one of a steady-state precoder, and at least one dynamic precoder; monitoring downstream data traffic from said network side entity toward said at least two nodes; and constructing said at least one dynamic precoder to optimize a bit-rate of said downstream data traffic, according to said monitoring, and said allocation; wherein said at least one dynamic precoder is configured to change with varying said data traffic conditions.

Data traffic-aware dynamic vectoring

A method for dynamically modifying a frame structure in transceiving of data between a network side entity and at least one node, the data is divided among a plurality of frames, the method comprising: providing an upstream management symbol offset position with respect to a frame reference point, the upstream management symbol offset position is associated with an upstream management symbol that is configured to at least convey downstream acknowledgement data; providing an updated frame structure to the at least one node, including: information defining a transition point between downstream and upstream; and a reference point indicating when the updated frame structure shall take effect; receiving the updated frame structure by the at least one node; and employing the updated frame structure from the reference point, by the network side entity.

System and method unifying linear and nonlinear precoding for transceiving data

A communication system operative for transmitting over a communication channel. The communication channel being susceptible to crosstalk from at least a second communication system different from the communication system. The communication system includes at least one transceiver pair. At least the a first transceiver of the transceiver pair includes a first analog from end and a first shaping filter coupled with the analog front end. The first analog front end at least includes a programmable gain amplifier. The attenuation of the first shaping filter in the overlapping frequency range is higher than the attenuation in the non-overlapping frequency range.

Communication method and system adapted for concurrently operating over a communication channel susceptible to crosstalk from at least a second communication system

A method for maintaining configuration synchronization via an on-line reconfiguration (OLR) of system configuration parameters in a communication system having at least a first communication entity and a second communication entity that employ a reference configuration of system parameters, the method comprising the procedures of monitoring changes to at least one channel characteristic in at least one communication channel that links the first communication entity and the second communication entity; determining by the first communication entity an updated configuration that is constructed based on at least one modification relative to the reference configuration according to changes to the at least one channel characteristic; transmitting an OLR request from the first communication entity to the second communication entity via the at least one communication channel; receiving the OLR request by the second communication entity; and employing the updated configuration by the first communication entity and by the second communication entity.

A data communication framing scheme of a bit stream that is divided among a plurality of discrete physical frames, each physical frame is of a definite number of symbols in duration, each symbol is associated with at least one sub-carrier in a plurality of sub-carriers, the physical frame is partitioned in time into at least an uplink zone and a downlink zone, the data framing scheme comprising a logical frame having a logical frame start position that is offset by a rational number of said symbols from a reference symbol, said reference symbol is selected from said definite number of symbols, wherein said logical frame extends in time to coincide with at least part of the duration of said physical frame and at least part of the duration of another physical frame in said plurality of discrete physical frames.

Apparatus, for transmitting and receiving signals over residential electrical cables, includes a processor, at least one transmitter and at least one receiver. The transmitter and the receiver are coupled with the processor, for respectively transmitting and receiving the signals. The apparatus is coupled with an electrical cable including at least one active wire, one neutral wire and one ground wire. At least two of the wires form receive wire pairs wherein at least two of the wires form at least one transmit wire pair. The processor enables the at least one receiver to be coupled with the receive wire pairs and wherein the processor dynamically switches a coupling of the at least one receiver to another one of the plurality of receive wire pairs.
