One aspect relates to a method of calibrating event data. The method includes obtaining, via an electronic device including a processor, event data for an assay including a reagent. The reagent is associated with one of a plurality of manufacturing lots of the reagent. The method includes receiving one or more calibration factors for the reagent based on an identifier associated with the one of the plurality of manufacturing lots. The method further includes generating calibrated event data based on an application of the one or more calibration factors to the event data.

Reagent calibration system and method

An automated skin lesion assessment system may automatically assess a suspect skin lesion. An electronic image library may contain diagnosed skin lesion image data representative of images of a plurality of diagnosed skin lesions and, for each, a diagnosis of the skin lesion. An image capture system may capture an image of the suspect skin lesion. A computer processing system may compare the image of the suspect skin lesion with the diagnosed skin lesion image data and, based on this comparison, identify one or more diagnosed skin lesions which match the suspect skin lesion. A user interface may report the diagnoses of the diagnosed skin lesions that match the image of the suspect skin lesion.

Automated assessment of skin lesions using image library

The present invention relates to fiberoptic sensors embedded within a surgical drain to monitor the condition of tissue proximate to the surgical drain and methods of processing data from the sensors. The light transmitting and collecting tips of the optical fibers are adapted to enable sideways interrogation of the adjacent tissues using optical techniques to measure the tissue condition. The light transmitting and collecting tips of the optical fibers may be bent at angle, disposed between a light absorbing and transmitting sheets, or uncladded to enable sideways emission and collection of light. Processing methods for reducing the site dependency of the measured data, maximizing the signal to noise ratio, and increasing the measurement sensitivity to changes in the tissue condition are described.

Methods and sensors for monitoring internal tissue conditions

The present invention is directed to a system and method for monitoring the physiological parameters of an organ or tissue during and after surgery. The system has a probe and a monitoring unit. In one embodiment the probe includes features for convenient, fixed and releasable attachment to surgical drains without interfering with their normal fluid-draining function while utilizing their suction to enhance the probe-to-tissue interface for improved sensing. An applicator is provided to facilitate such attachment. The monitoring unit which controls the sensors of the probe includes a processor to process, record and display the sensor data. This system may be valuable for monitoring transplanted organs and tissue grafts during the critical postoperative period when most of the clinical complications, such as vascular thrombosis, may occur.

Methods and devices for tissue monitoring

The present invention is directed to implantable devices and systems for the differential monitoring the condition of the tissue or fluid emitted from the site in proximity to the implants. The invention may also include modifications of the implantable device to stabilize or immobilize the device in the proximity of the tissue to be monitored.

The present invention is directed to devices and methods of using a surgical drain, and more particularly to a surgical drain having at least one sensor for monitoring and/or recording the condition of the anatomical site or fluid emitted from the site where the surgical drain is placed. The invention may also include modifications of the surgical drain to improve stabilization or immobilization in the proximity of the anatomical site to be monitored.

Surgical drain with positioning and protective features

Methods and systems for determination of one or more substances within a material are described. A flow of fluorescence-exciting/ablative energy (e.g., laser pulse(s), preferably in the ultraviolet region (e.g. 193-nm)), is directed onto the material to ablate a thin layer of the material using photochemical decomposition. Simultaneously, the laser energy induces fluorescence of the substance(s) within the ablated layer of the material. The fluorescence emitted by the substance(s) is then received by a device, which measures the spectrum of the received fluorescence. The fluorescence spectra are then transmitted to a spectral processing device adapted to determine, on the basis of the fluorescence spectra, whether the substance(s) of interest is/are present in the material and/or the concentration at which the substance(s) of interest is/are present in the material. This process may be repeated for each layer of the material to determine the concentration gradient of the substance(s) of interest in the material.
