A compatibilized cement composition for the treatment of a subterranean formation and a method of treating a subterranean formation are disclosed. The method can include placing in a subterranean formation a composition including a compatibilized cement composition. The compatibilized cement composition can include a curable resin or cured product thereof, a cement slurry, and a compatibilizer composition, a reaction product thereof, or a combination thereof. The compatibilizer composition can include a substituted or unsubstituted C-Chydrocarbon including at least one internal olefin and a polyether.

A cement composition: (a) a hydraulic cement; (b) water; and (c) an alkyl polyglycoside derivative, wherein the alkyl polyglycoside derivative is selected from the group consisting of: sulfonates, betaines, an inorganic salt of any of the foregoing, and any combination of any of the foregoing. A method comprising the steps of: (A) forming the cement composition; and (B) introducing the cement composition into the well. Preferably, the cement composition is foamed.

A water-based drilling mud for use in cementing operations includes water, LASSENITE&#xae; pozzolan-based additive, a heavy-weight additive, a viscosifier, a dispersant and at least one of a set activator, a fluid loss control additive and a shale stabilizer. A method of using the same includes allowing a cement composition to mix with the water-based drilling mud and allowing the mixture of the cement composition and the water-based drilling mud to set.

Well fluids and methods are provided that can be used for stabilizing a shale formation, especially during drilling of a well into or through a shale formation. The well fluids include: (i) a continuous water phase; (ii) a viscosity-increasing agent, wherein the viscosity-increasing agent comprises water-soluble hydrophilic polymer; (iii) a fluid loss control agent; and (iv) a cyclodextrin-based compound. According to an embodiment, a composition that can be used in cementing. The composition includes at least: wherein the monomeric units (a) through (d) can be any sequence and any proportion in the copolymer. With water, the composition of the hydraulic cement and such a copolymer becomes a cement composition. According to the method, the cement composition is introduced into a well and allowed to set in the well.

Cement compositions may comprise an aluminosilicate; a sodium aluminate, a calcium aluminate, a potassium aluminate, or a combination thereof; and water. In some cases, the cement does not include Portland cement. The cement may be used in a subterranean formation having corrosive components therein, wherein the set cement sheath is resistant to degradation from the corrosive components within the subterranean formation.
