A closure comprises a polymeric top wall portion, a polymeric annular skirt portion, a polymeric liner and a polymeric disc. The polymeric annular skirt portion depends from the polymeric top wall portion. The annular skirt portion includes an internal thread formation for mating engagement with an external thread formation of a container. The polymeric disc has an exterior surface. The polymeric disc is located between the polymeric top wall portion and the polymeric liner. The polymeric disc includes a plurality of channels formed therein. The plurality of channels assists in allowing liquid to travel on the exterior surface of the polymeric disc and between the polymeric annular skirt portion and an external finish of a container.

Closure for a package

A closure includes a polymeric top wall portion, a polymeric liner, a polymeric disc and a polymeric annular skirt portion. The polymeric disc is located between the polymeric top wall portion and the polymeric liner. The polymeric annular skirt portion depends from the polymeric top wall portion. The annular skirt portion includes: (1) an internal thread formation for mating engagement with an external thread formation of a container; and (2) an internal prying projection to assist in removing the closure from the container. At least a portion of the internal prying projection is located nearer the polymeric top wall portion than the internal thread formation.

A composite closure having a double-wall configuration facilitates convenient use by consumers, and permits in-shell formation of a sealing liner. The closure includes an outer closure cap having inner and outer annular skirt portions arranged in concentric relationship with each other. The closure includes a sealing liner formed in the closure cap at the inside surface of the top wall portion of the closure cap. A method of compression-molding the sealing liner is provided.

Double-wall closure

A package for carbonated beverages and the like includes a container, and a closure which can be threadably applied to the container by the provision of respective, cooperating thread formations. In order to facilitate release of gas pressure from within the package during closure removal, the present package includes at least one rotation-inhibiting projection, which can be positioned within a vent groove provided on either the container or closure of the package. Notably, a rotation-inhibiting projection in accordance with the present invention is configured vertically asymmetrically relative to a helix defined by a respective one of the thread formations of the container and closure of the package. The arrangement facilitates release of gas pressure from within the package, and further facilitates convenient manipulation and removal of the closure by consumers by minimizing removal torques for the closure.

Container closure

A tamper-indicating dispensing closure includes a closure body, and an associated flip-top lid pivotally connected to the closure body for movement between a closed position and an open position. The flip-top lid includes a tamper-indicating flange frangibly connected thereto, with the closure body including a pocket-like retention cavity within which the tamper-indicating flange is received during initial closing movement of the flip-top lid. During initial opening movement of the lid, the tamper-indicating flange is broken away from the flip-top lid, and thereafter permanently retained within the retention cavity to provide a clear, visual indication that the flip-top lid of the closure has been opened.

Tamper-indicating dispensing closure

An apparatus for molding a plastic closure includes a male mold assembly including a forming pin and an outer pin sleeve which cooperate with a female mold for defining a mold cavity. To facilitate mechanical stripping of a molded closure from the forming pin, pressurized air is introduced into the molded closure through at least one air passageway which extends axially between the forming pin and pin sleeve. By outwardly expanding and forming the plastic closure during ejection from the forming pin, forces to which the closure is subjected during ejection are significantly reduced, thereby desirably reducing the amount of cooling of the closure that is required during the molding cycle prior to ejection. Significantly increased operating speeds for the compression molding apparatus can thus be achieved.

Dispensing cap

A push-pull closure including a shell and a tip. The shell includes a body with a fluid opening, a stem extending axially through the opening, and a first lip on the body outer surface and a second lip on the body inner surface, with the lips facing the shell one end with the second lip being further from the shell one end than the first lip. The tip has a pouring aperture with an outer flange having an inwardly extending third lip receivable over the body outer surface and an inner flange having an outwardly extending fourth lip receivable in the body opening and spaced from the stem. The third lip is positioned between the shell one end and the first lip and the fourth lip is positioned between the shell one end and the second lip. The first lip has an outer diameter greater than the inner diameter of the third lip and the second lip has an inner diameter less than the outer diameter of the fourth lip.

Push-pull container closure

A dispensing closure assembly includes an outer closure body having an upper tubular portion which can function as a mouthpiece for users. The closure assembly includes a flexible valve member mounted within the tubular portion of the closure body for dispensing of liquids or like contents by either the application of suction by a consumer, or by squeezing the associated container. By the provision of a liquid seal lip which coacts with an inside surface of the flexible valve member, the closure assembly can be configured to facilitate convenient use by consumers, while avoiding undesirable leakage attendant to normal handling during use.
