A method for creating a standby database with read/write access capability while also maintaining a data consistency with a primary database, is provided. The method includes syncing the primary database with a physical standby mirror existing on the standby database, creating a first data compartment and a second data compartment on the standby database, separate from the physical standby mirror, applying a change made to the first data object on the primary database to the corresponding first data object on the physical standby mirror; and determining whether the change should be applied to the corresponding first data object stored on the first data compartment in accordance with data merge rules associated with the first data compartment and the second data compartment.

Data compartments for read/write activity in a standby database

A database is identified, wherein the database has two or more tablespaces. A local partition and a global partition for each tablespace of the two or more tablespaces is created, wherein the created two or more global partitions are included in a global storage pool. A request to move an object to a first local partition of a first tablespace of the two or more tablespaces is received. That an amount of used space of the first local partition is above a first threshold is determined. Responsive to determining that the amount of used space of the first local partition is above the first threshold, at least a portion of the object is stored in the global storage pool.

Optimizing space management of tablespaces in database systems

A system and method for multiple parameter based composite rule data validation includes receiving a request to validate target data of a target object based on constituent parameters, identifying the data type of the target data, suggesting validation rules based on the data type of the target object, generating a set of composite validation queries, identifying at least one composite validation query in the set of composite validation queries corresponding to the constituent parameters and values, validating the target data of the target object against the at least one composite validation query, and returning a validation result for the target data.

Multiple parameter based composite rule data validation

A method for validating data in a hybrid cloud model that includes providing a validation layer in the brokerage module of the hybrid architecture. The validation layer is separate from an applications layer of the hybrid architecture. The method includes sending target object values to a centralized brokerage layer composite query generator (BLCQG) component of the validation layer from an application needing validation of target data time. The method continues with generating a composite validation rule set with the brokerage layer composite query generator (BLCQG) component based on the parameters of the target object values. The method further includes validating the target data item of the target object values with the composite validation rule in the validation rules validator (VRV) component; and sending the target data item that has been validated to the application.

Multiple parameter based composite rule wise data validation in cloud hybrid model

A method, a system and a computer program product for automated ASCII-based object-oriented database schema (OODBS) generation. A parser runs through text sentences of a textual document from a requirements gathering team that includes object-oriented application requirements, and identifies nouns corresponding to an object, and each noun's attributes. An Object-oriented dictionary based ASCII interpreter analyzes the ASCII of the captured requirements. For each identified noun, the system creates first key-value structures mapping each identified object to one or more associated attributes. There is further identified, from the created first key-value structures, any attributes that reference to an identified object, and for each of these identified objects, the system creates second key-value structures mapping, for each attribute identified as a reference, associating a corresponding key where the reference is found as an attribute. An ASCII-based OODB schema is generated based on the first key-values and second key-value structures mappings.

ASCII based instant object oriented schema generation

Relational database schema generation includes obtaining an input requirements specification for a relational database to be generated, interpreting text characters of the requirements specification as values of a predefined character encoding, parsing the interpreted text characters and identifying complete sentences of the requirements specification, identifying, using an input dictionary that specifies combinations of character values of the predefined character encoding, proper nouns in the identified complete sentences and common nouns in the identified complete sentences, and generating a relational database schema script for the relational database, the generating including indicating the identified proper nouns of the complete sentences as entities of the relational database and indicating the identified common nouns of the complete sentences as attributes of those entities.

An approach is provided for delivering a configuration based workflow in an IT system. A set of parameters and pre-configured conditions associated with a command initiated for execution are determined. Validation action(s) that validate the command and are included in the configuration based workflow are determined. The validation action(s) are specified by respective interaction(s) with external system(s). Validation action(s) included in the configuration based workflow are performed by completing the interaction(s) with the external system(s) using the set of parameters. It is determined whether the validation action(s) are successfully completed. If the validation action(s) are successfully completed, the execution of the command is continued. If at least one of the validation action(s) is not successfully completed, the execution of the command is discontinued.

Delivering configuration based security and process workflows

Disclosed embodiments provide techniques for load balancing of computer jobs in a distributed computer network. A health score is determined for each node of the pool of nodes, which can include native applications, virtual machines, and/or containers. A future resource availability score is determined for each node of the pool of nodes corresponding with a predetermined future time. A schedule eligibility score is computed for each node based on the health score and future resource availability score. A new job is assigned to the node with the optimal schedule eligibility score. In this way, rather than only considering the current workload conditions of the node, a future resource availability score is computed for each node, and this score is used as a factor in the assigning of jobs to the node. This provides an opportunity for improved resource utilization and improved overall system reliability.

Cluster load balancing based on assessment of future loading

Systems and methods for dynamic incremental updating of online analytical processing (OLAP) data cubes are disclosed. In embodiments, a computer-implemented method, comprises: receiving real-time transactional event data including a plurality of data fields; identifying aggregate computing functions for each of a plurality of standard query language (SQL) queries of a target data cube to be updated, wherein the target data cube is in a multidimensional form for storing OLAP data in the form of numeric values organized in fields; incrementally calculating the aggregate computing functions based on a current aggregated value obtained from an updated aggregated field database, and a value of one of the plurality of data fields; repeating the incremental calculation for each of the plurality of SQL queries to obtain updated field data for the target data cube; and updating the updated aggregated field database with the updated field data.

Dynamic incremental updating of data cubes

An approach to generating an application prototype. The approach parses ASCII text-based requirements into a collection of sentences and parses the collection of sentences into collections words associated with the collection of sentences. The approach then uses an ASCII dictionary to determine the nouns and verbs found in the collections of words marking the nouns as entities and the verbs as responsibilities. Further, the approach determines if nouns are shared among the collection of sentences and if they are, then records relationships between the sentences. The approach then generates metadata describing these components and generates byte code based on the metadata. The approach packages the byte code, other data relating to the entry point and type of prototype application, e.g., web-based or standalone and an encryption module for distribution.

The validation action(s) are specified by respective interaction(s) with external system(s). Validation action(s) included in the configuration based workflow are performed by completing the interaction(s) with the external system(s) using the set of parameters. It is determined whether the validation action(s) are successfully completed. If the validation action(s) are successfully completed, the execution of the command is continued. If at least one of the validation action(s) is not successfully completed, the execution of the command is discontinued.

An approach is provided for managing a reorganization of a database object. Because a reorganization utility cannot acquire exclusive access to the object to complete the reorganization, determinations are made: an amount of transaction log records corresponding to active units of work using the database object is determined to be less than a first threshold; a sum of costs of SQL statements executed in the units of work is determined to be less than a second threshold; and a priority of the reorganization is determined to indicate a greatest priority among multiple priorities. Based on the determinations, (1) a reorganization lock providing exclusive access to the database object is acquired, (2) process(es) holding lock(s) on the database object experience a lockout error, a rollback of the process(es) is issued, and the lock(s) are released, and (3) the utility completes the reorganization based on the lock(s) being released.

Optimizing online schema processing for busy database objects

A method and associated systems for synchronizing a disaster-recovery system of a database. A processor identifies transactions that affect data blocks of a database and records each change in a vector form. For each block, the processor determines a more efficient way to communicate changes made to the block by a subset of the identified transactions. If fewer resources are needed to communicate an updated image of the entire changed block than would be needed to instead communicate a related set of change vectors that identify changes made to the block by the subset of transactions, then the processor communicates the updated image to the disaster-recovery system. Otherwise, the processor instead communicates the related change vectors to the disaster-recovery system. The processor repeats these determinations and communications for each block of the database that was changed by an identified transaction.
