A method for providing access to objects associated with a particular client in a cloud storage system is disclosed. The method includes the steps of establishing a connection with a user, providing a client namespace associated with the client to the user, where the client namespace represents objects stored on the cloud storage system and objects stored on a private storage system apart from the cloud storage system, receiving a request from the user to access an object stored on the private storage system, and providing information to the user to facilitate access to the object stored on the private storage system by said user. Other systems and methods are also disclosed. Important advantages of the present invention are facilitated by separating the logic for user access (control plane) from the actual storage (Storage plane). Private file system access can still be managed from the cloud, while keeping the client data private.

In a computer network, network management applications in a network management station manage and control managed elements connected to the network through the use of network management requests. The network management requests are prioritized by the management station or the managed element. The managed element prioritizes received requests by pre-assigning priority values corresponding to user identification values included in the request or by pre-assigning priority values corresponding to source identification values included in the request. The management station prioritizes the network management requests by adding a priority value to each network management requests before sending the request to the managed element. The managed element extracts the priority value directly from the request or dependent on the user identification or source identification included in the request.

In one aspect, a message is received requesting access to a set of managed objects associated with a network device. A set of object instances associated with the objects is retrieved, with their associated values. A set of access configuration commands represent an access policy associated with the requester. The access policy specifies restricted values associated with an object instance and includes instructions regarding whether to permit or deny access to the object instance when the object instance contains a specified restricted value. The current value of the object instance is compared to the specified restricted values, and access is controlled based on the access policy. Method and apparatus for value-based access to network management information

Methods and devices are disclosed for changing the configuration state of a network device such as a router, a switch or a similar device without the need for a person to interpret a textual diff. According to some aspects of the invention, a programmatic diff file that includes the output of two comparisons is used as an input file to a program that 'rolls back' the current configuration state to a prior configuration state.
