Various embodiments disclose a method for operating a printer apparatus that includes a print head. The method includes causing a media hub to retract a media in a retract direction along a media path. Further, the method includes causing a first media sensor to generate a first signal during retraction of the media. Furthermore, the method includes monitoring the first signal to detect at least one of a leading edge or a trailing edge of a label of the plurality of labels. Upon detecting the at least one of the leading edge or the trailing edge of the label, causing the media hub to retract the media by at least a predetermined distance, wherein the predetermined distance is a distance between the print head and the first media sensor.

The present disclosure provides a printer apparatus including a thermoelectric cooling assembly and a processor coupled to the thermoelectric cooling assembly. The thermoelectric cooling assembly includes a thermoelectric cooling element that includes a first substrate, a second substrate, and a first plurality of semiconductor elements electrically coupled to a second plurality of semiconductor elements in a space between the first substrate and the second substrate. The thermoelectric cooling element includes a base plate electrically coupled to the first substrate. The base plate is positioned proximate to a plurality of labels traversing above the thermoelectric cooling assembly. The processor receives sensor signals indicative of a temperature of a label that comes in contact with the thermoelectric cooling assembly, compares the temperature of the label with a threshold temperature, and generates an output signal indicative of current supplied to the thermoelectric cooling element to adjust the temperature of the thermoelectric cooling element.

A system to calculate line feed error in labels on a printer includes a holder assembly under the label line feed and before the printer burn line; a first sensor and a second sensor on the holder assembly, a fixed distance, L, between them; and a processor. The first sensor senses a first position of a label edge, LA. The second sensor senses a second position of the label edge, LB. The processor calculates the distance, LAB, between the first position and the second position and calculates the line feed error over the fixed distance, L, by taking the difference (L&#x2212;LAB). The processor calculates the feed correction to be done to the label, given by [(L&#x2212;LAB)/L]&#xd7;D, where D is a distance between the first sensor and the burn line of the printer. The processor instructs the printer line feed to implement the calculated feed correction.

A pinch control apparatus in a printer for controlling a pinch force exerted on a medium which is being fed into a printing zone is provided. The pinch control apparatus includes a camshaft rotatably mounted across a width of the medium, at least one cam attached to the camshaft, a plunger and a biasing rod. The cam has a predefined profile and is able to rotate with the camshaft. The plunger abuts the predefined profile of the at least one cam. The biasing rod extends from a pinch plate to the plunger to bias the pinch plate to a linefeed roller for exerting the pinch force on the medium therebetween. The pinch force exerted on the medium is controllable by the rotation of the camshaft.
