The present disclosure introduces an apparatus including a toolstring for use in a tubular extending into a subterranean formation. The toolstring includes modular components that include one or more caliper modules and a power and control (P/C) module. The one or more caliper modules each include radially rotatable fingers for sensing an internal diameter of the tubular. The P/C module is operable for distributing power and control signals to the one or more caliper modules. The caliper and P/C modules are mechanically and electrically interconnected by common lower interfaces of the caliper and P/C modules.

Modular borehole imaging apparatus and methods

The present disclosure relates to a system that is operable to receive an execution plan and execute a control operation on one or more equipment based operations within the execution plan. The one or more operations may include a data capturing operation associated with a resource site. In one embodiment, the system may be operable to execute at least a first operation in response to a success variable of the data capturing operation indicating a successful execution of the data capturing operation. The first operation may include a quality control operation that is executed by comparing at least one characteristic of the captured data to an expected characteristic to generate quality state data. The quality state data may have one of an acceptable status and an undesirable status. In response to the quality state data indicating an acceptable status for the quality control operation, executing at least a second operation.

A system for wireline service planning and advising includes a receiver, one or more computing system processors, and a transmitter. The receiver is configured to receive, from a user of the system, an objective parameter for interpreting a state of a well barrier. The one or more computing system processors is in communication with the receiver and configured to generate a plurality of candidate services based on the objective parameter and a model of the well barrier, each candidate service specifying sensor data to be acquired using wireline tools, select at least one wireline service from the wireline candidate services based on a selection logic or input by the user, and generate an execution plan specifying operational parameters of the selected wireline service. The transmitter is in communication with the one or more computing system processors and configured to transmit the execution plan to execute the selected wireline service at a wellsite.

A system and method for detecting defects in a tubular structure installed in a wellbore extending into a subterranean formation. An input image of the tubular structure contains input data indicative of a characteristic of the tubular structure. A background image is determined based on the input image. The background image contains background data indicative of the characteristic of the tubular structure associated with manufacturing of the tubular structure. A defect image is determined based on a difference between the input image and the background image. The defect image contains defect data indicative of the characteristic of the tubular structure associated with defects in the tubular structure.

Detecting defects in tubular structures

Methods including determining a measurement plan, having acoustic measurements, and lowering in a borehole penetrating a subsurface formation a toolstring having phased array modules. Each phased array module includes acoustic transducers operable to emit an acoustic excitation signal and receive an echo signal, as well as a programmable circuit for setting one or more variables of the phased array module. The phased array modules are configured, including programming the programmable circuit to set variables of the phased array modules according to the measurement plan. The acoustic measurements of the measurement plan are performed using the configured phased array modules. One or more of the formation, a casing disposed in the borehole, and/or an annulus between the casing and the formation are characterized using results of the performed acoustic measurements.

Systems and methods for identifying a potential third interface echo (TIE) using objective criteria are provided. A system includes an acoustic logging tool that obtains measurements in a wellbore and a data processing system that has a processor that receives the measurements from the acoustic logging tool. The data processing system may identify a third interface echo (TIE) using a neural network and/or by a signal analysis method based on the behavioral characteristics of the TIE signal.

The method comprising identifying zones of the image corresponding to disturbance zones, based in particular on values of the imaging parameters or other measured parameters, deleting the data of the imaging parameter in each of the disturbance zones, reconstructing for each zone, data of the imaging parameter from the data of imaging parameter at the neighboring zones, and determining at least a property of the material based on the reconstructed image.

Methods and systems for determining a property of a tubular are described. Measurement data of cross-sectional shapes of the tubular at a plurality of depth positions is provided. A three-dimensional mesh representing the tubular based on the cross-sectional shapes is generated. A stress simulation using the three-dimensional mesh to provide an integrity assessment of the tubular is performed.

Methods and systems for determining integrity and operational boundaries of subterranean wells

A method for remediating a microannulus in a cased wellbore may include conveying a downhole tool into the cased wellbore to a location of interest. The location of interest may include one or more perforations in a casing and a microannulus. The downhole tool may include a heat generation device. The method may also include activating the heat generation device to melt a fill material at the location of interest such that the fill material flows through the perforations into one or more voids, including the microannulus, in or around cement disposed between the casing and the cased wellbore. Additionally, the method may include deactivating the heat generation device to facilitate solidification of the fill material in the one or more voids and sealing of the microannulus.

Systems and methods for remediating a microannulus in a wellbore

Systems, methods, and devices for evaluating proper cement installation in a well are provided. In one example, a method includes receiving acoustic cement evaluation data into a data processing system. The acoustic cement evaluation data derives from one or more acoustic downhole tools used over a depth interval in a well having a casing. The acoustic cement evaluation data includes sonic measurements and ultrasonic measurements. The method includes deriving a sonic-derived acoustic impedance Z(sonic) from the sonic measurements deriving an ultrasonic-derived acoustic impedance Z(ultrasonic) from the ultrasonic measurements comparing the Z(sonic) with respect to the Z(ultrasonic), and determining whether an annular fill behind the casing is well bonded, partially bonded, comprises wet microannulus, or comprises dry microannulus based on the comparison of the Z(sonic) with respect to the Z(ultrasonic).

Method and system of model-based acoustic measurements for a perforated casing

Systems, methods, and devices for evaluating proper cement installation in a well are provided. In one example, a method includes receiving acoustic cement evaluation data having a first parameterization. At least a portion of the entire acoustic cement evaluation data may be corrected to account for errors in the first parameterization, thereby obtaining corrected acoustic cement evaluation data. This corrected acoustic cement evaluation data may be processed with an initial solid-liquid-gas model before performing a posteriori refinement of the initial solid-liquid-gas model, thereby obtaining a refined solid-liquid-gas model. A well log track-indicating whether a material behind the casing is a solid, liquid, or gas&#x2014;may be generated by processing the corrected acoustic cement evaluation data using the refined solid-liquid-gas model.

Methods and systems of barrier evaluation are disclosed. The method includes obtaining vibration measurement data measured in a wellbore having at least one casing. In addition, the method includes determining a boundary definition of the barrier between the casing and a formation, based on the vibration measurement data. Further, the method includes evaluating the barrier based on the one boundary definition. The system includes a vibration sensor located in the wellbore having at least one casing and a vibration source for generating vibrations. The system may also include a data logging system of producing vibration measurement data received with the vibration sensor and a processor for determining at least one boundary definition of barrier between the casing and a formation, based on the vibration measurement data and evaluating the barrier based on the at least one boundary definition.
