Propargyl bromide is effectively stabilized against shock or thermal decomposition by use therewith of an environmentally acceptable inert liquid solvent that forms an azeotrope with propargyl bromide.

Described are .omega.,.omega. -�.alpha.,.omega.-alkanediylbis(alkylimino)!bis(alkanolpolyethoxylates) in which (i) the alkane group has in the range of 4 to 12 carbon atoms, (ii) the alkyl groups can be the same or different and contain up to about 24 carbon atoms each, and (iii) the number of ethyleneoxy groups in each polyethoxylate group is in the range of 2 to about 50. These compounds are effective adjuvants for use with pesticides, especially herbicides and plant growth regulants, such as glyphosate.

They are formulated as water solutions or powders or granules from (a) one or more agriculturally acceptable salts of glyphosate; (b) at least one water-soluble long chain aliphatic hydrocarbyl dimethyl amine oxide in which the hydrocarbyl group is a linear or substantially linear saturated or olefinically unsaturated aliphatic group having in the range of about 8 to about 22 carbon atoms; (c) at least one water-soluble straight or branched chain saturated or olefinically unsaturated alcohol ethoxylate having in the range of about 8 to about 24 carbon atoms in the aliphatic hydrocarbyl group and in the range of about 2 to about 50 ethyleneoxy groups per molecule, and (d) at least one water-soluble or water-dispersible N-hydrocarbyl pyridinium halide having up to about 24 carbon atoms in the molecule, and wherein (i) the hydrocarbyl group attached to the nitrogen atom of the heterocyclic aromatic ring of the pyridinium nucleus is a saturated or olefinically unsaturated aliphatic hydrocarbyl group having in the range of about 4 to about 18 carbon atoms, and (ii) the ring carbon atoms of the pyridinium nucleus itself are either unsubstituted or one or more of such ring carbon atoms are substituted with a short chain alkyl group of up to about 4 carbon atoms, or a solution or suspension thereof.

Surfactant composition for use with glyphosate comprising dimethyl amine

Glyphosate formulations which are effective even when employed at dosages below the dosage currently recommended for post-emergent herbicidal or plant growth regulant use are described. They are formulated as water solutions or as powders or granules of (a) one or more agriculturally acceptable amine, alkali metal, alkylsulfonium, alkylphosphonium, sulfonylamine, and/or aminoguanidine salts of glyphosate as the only herbicide or plant growth regulant used in forming said composition; and (b) a trihydrocarbyl amine oxide surfactant as the only surface active component used in forming said composition. The amine oxide is (i) a single alkyl dimethyl amine oxide in which the alkyl group is a linear alkyl group having in the range of 10 to 14 carbon atoms, or (ii) a combination of two alkyl dimethyl amine oxides of (i), or (iii) a combination of at least one alkyl dimethyl amine oxide in which the alkyl group is a linear alkyl group having in the range of 10 to 14 carbon atoms and at least one dialkyl methyl amine oxide in which the alkyl groups are linear alkyl groups each having in the range of 8 to 12 carbon atoms. Optionally, one or more agriculturally acceptable substances none of which is a herbicide, or a plant growth regulant or a surfactant can be included in the formulation.

Glyphosate formulations which are effective even when employed at dosages below the dosage currently recommended for post-emergent herbicidal or plant growth regulant use are described. They are formulated as water solutions or powders or granules of (a) one or more agriculturally acceptable amine, alkali metal, alkylsulfonium, alkylphosphonium, sulfonylamine, and/or aminoguanidine salts of glyphosate as the only herbicide(s) used in the forming composition; and (b) one or more water-soluble particular types of aliphatic hydrocarbyl sulfonic acid or agriculturally acceptable salt or ester thereof as the only surfactants used in forming the composition. The hydrocarbyl group of the sulfonate is a saturated aliphatic group having in the range of about 10 to about 18 carbon atoms and is terminally substituted by the foregoing functionality.

Glyphosate formulations which are effective even when employed at dosages below the dosage currently recommended for post-emergent herbicidal or plant growth regulant use are described. They are formulated as water solutions or powders or granules of (a) one or more agriculturally acceptable amine, alkali metal, alkylsulfonium, alkylphosphonium, sulfonylamine, and/or aminoguanidine salts of glyphosate; and (b) one or more water-soluble long chain monoalkyl sulfate or agriculturally acceptable salt or short chain ester thereof in which the long chain group is an alkyl group having in the range of about 10 to about 18 carbon atoms and is terminally substituted by such functionality.
