A motherboard has a cut-away so that it deviates from its rectangular outline. The motherboard has a connector disposed along one side for physically and electrically connecting the motherboard to a motherboard extender. A method includes physically and electrically connecting a motherboard extender to a motherboard so that a tab of said motherboard extender and an overlapping expansion-card connector extend into the cut-away.

A bus slot connector. In one embodiment, a bus slot connector is comprised of a housing with a slot disposed within the housing. The slot is adapted to receive a connector portion of an adapter card. The bus slot connector is further comprised of a retention mechanism that is moveably coupled to and slidable along the housing. The retention mechanism has a lock position and an open position. The retention mechanism prevents removal of an adapter card inserted in the slot when in the lock position. The retention mechanism permits insertion of the connector portion of the adapter card into the slot and permits the removal of the connector portion of the adapter card from the slot when the retention mechanism is in the open position.

A hold down apparatus is disclosed that has a saw-toothed device with a double end and a single end, the double end adapted to encompass a perpendicularly mounted card. The hold down apparatus has an anchoring hole in a supporting structure and a barbed hook coupled to the saw-toothed device and adapted to couple the saw-toothed device to the supporting structure through the anchoring hole, wherein the barbed hook deploys from the single end of the saw-toothed device. The hold down apparatus also has a crossbar adapted to couple to the double end of the device, wherein the crossbar binds the perpendicularly mounted card securely in place.

The present invention provides an inexpensive, automobile test diagnostic system which is capable of processing data from multiple high speed data channels. The vehicle test diagnostic system include an integrated computer for providing access to a technical database comprised of stored information records, with migration capacity between related records, and further to provide selective access to particular portions of information within the database, the integrated computer including a user interface responsive to operation by a user to provide commands, and a microprocessor responsive to commands entered through the user interface to access the information; and at least one instrumentation module electrically coupled to the integrated computer, the instrumentation module being responsive to commands entered through the user interface.
