A distributed file management method for a multicell wireless communication network, including: monitoring a shared database to determine, for each wireless terminal of a set of wireless terminals: localization status information, version information of a stored file, and terminal type; updating the localization status information of the set when a new terminal localizes to the base station or a terminal in the set roams away from the base station; comparing, for each terminal of the set, the version information of the stored file and the terminal type to a version identifier and a file type, respectively, of an update file received by the base station to define a set of terminal update candidates; broadcasting the update file to corresponding ones of the set of terminal update candidates, based on a respective file type and a respective terminal type, to initiate an upgrade phase of each of the terminal upgrade candidates.

A telecommunications system includes a base, a plurality of handsets, and a status database for storing status information. Each handset is localized to the base. The status information may be that of a first handset of the plurality of handsets. The base broadcasts to the plurality of handsets a status broadcast that includes the status information.

A cordless telephone system provides home security. Each handset associated with the cordless telephone system detects an event, such as a noise level that exceeds a threshold noise level, smoke, carbon monoxide, intrusion or moisture level. If an event is detected the system presents a message from the base unit to an alert telephone number of the home owner that provides notification of the event.

A cordless telephone system provides home security. Each handset associated with the cordless telephone system detects an event, such as a noise level that exceeds a threshold noise level, smoke, carbon monoxide, intrusion or moisture level. If an event is detected the system initiates a telephone call through the base unit to an alert telephone number. When the telephone call to the alert telephone number is established, a message is played to provide notification of the event.

A technique for time domain avoidance of communications link interference sources characterized by intermittent, periodic short bursts of energy. A transmitting source can be assigned two time slots within a time domain multiple access data frame over which each data packet can be transmitted. The time slots are separated by a duration greater than that of an interference burst, such that an interference burst does not affect both time slots in any given frame. Therefore, the data packet can be received on at least one of the two assigned time slots. Transmitter power consumption can be reduced by calculating the timing of the periodic interference bursts, and only transmitting a data packet on one of the two assigned time slots that will not coincide with an interference burst in each frame. Communications link capacity can be improved during the presence of interference by synchronizing the data frame to the timing of the interference bursts. The bursts then occupy fixed time slots in each data frame, enabling standard single time slot transmissions for the remaining communications channels in the data frame.

A multimode cordless telephone system that can be used for remote video monitoring. The system includes a base station, at least one camera that is in wireless communication, at least periodically, with the base station, and a cordless handset, having a viewing screen, also in wireless communication, at least periodically, with the base station, the cordless handset having a first mode that is operable when the cordless handset is within a predetermined range of the base station wherein the cordless handset operates in conjunction with the base station to provide telephonic communication and image monitoring of images captured by the cameras, and a second mode that is operable when the cordless handset is beyond the predetermined range of the base station wherein the cordless handset communicates with the base station over the public switched telephone network (PSTN) to monitor images captured by the cameras.

Remote video access capability for a wireless video monitoring/cordless phone system

A method for integrating cordless telephony, data network, and broadband connection is disclosed. Preferred embodiments of the invention are configured to provide one or more of the following tasks: (1) support voice over a WLAN with QoS with enhanced power consumption and range; (2) provide for both broadband telephony and PSTN access; (3) utilize a broadband connection to deliver content to a cordless handset; and (4) utilize a wired data terminal to provide enhanced telephony functions.

A multi handset telephone system with a wireless telecom/doorbell module. The telecom/doorbell module has similar electronics as a cordless handset that includes audio and RF link with a base unit. A speakerphone functionality of a wireless telecom/doorbell audio processor is used to provide an intercom audio conversation. The wireless intercom/doorbell module is battery powered that is either charged by an AC adapter or by an existing doorbell wiring. The wireless intercom/doorbell module also work in parallel with the existing bell wiring. When a page key is pressed, the module pages the telephone system and shorts the doorbell wiring to make an existing bell ring. The doorbell module is coupled with a camera.

Intercom/wireless door bell for multi-handset telephone system

A method for remote accessing a multi-line residential telephone system. Using a first remote telephone, a calling party dials a telephone number associated with a first telephone line of the multi-line residential telephone system. After a predetermined number of unanswered rings at the first telephone line of the multi-line telephone system, the multi-line telephone system prompts the calling party to input a code. After a successful verification of the code, the multi-line telephone system connects the first remote telephone with a second telephone line of the multi-line telephone system so that the calling party receives a dial tone over the second telephone line. The calling party then dials a terminating telephone number associated with a second remote telephone to establish communication with a called party of the second remote telephone.

Remote line access for a multi-line residential telephone

An integrated camera, motion detector and cordless telephone system. A wireless camera operates to detect motion and then alerts a user to the motion via a base station/cordless handset. In one embodiment, the camera then also transmits still or streaming video to the base station/cordless telephone. Accordingly, a user can monitor image(s) via a cordless telephone handset and/or be alerted of motion within the camera's field of view.

A wireless multi-handset telephone system with integrated video monitoring. A speakerphone base unit, at least one camera module, at least one combination video/voice handset, and at least one voice handset operate together such that voice and data are transmitted (i) between the speakerphone base unit and the at least one camera module and (ii) between the speakerphone base unit and the at least one voice handset, and video images are transmitted from the at least one camera module to the at least one combination video/voice handset.

Wireless multi-handset telephone system with integrated video monitoring accessories

A cordless telephone headset, which is controlled by an unattached handheld control module. The control module includes a keypad, and emits an infrared signal towards the user's head corresponding to the depression of a particular key on the keypad. The cordless headset is worn on a user's head, receives the infrared signals originating from the control module, and performs a function corresponding to the particular signal received, such as dialing a number or placing the telephone on hook. The control module includes a visual display screen that provides visual confirmation of keypad depressions. The control module also displays caller identification or other data for visual observation.
