An encapsulated measuring device for detecting a velocity and/or acceleration of a rotationally or linearly moved component. The device includes a measuring device housing having a wall, and a scanning unit arranged in the housing, the scanning unit including a scanning head in the form of a Ferraris sensor, and wherein an eddy current body of the Ferraris sensor includes at least a portion of the wall of the measuring device housing.

Encapsulated measuring apparatus for detecting a velocity and/or acceleration of a rotationally or linearly moved component

A Ferraris sensor for measuring an acceleration of a moving body along a direction. The sensor includes a flat eddy current body and a scanning head arranged on one side of the eddy current body. The scanning head includes N magnets that generate an external magnetic field that extends approximately perpendicular to a surface of the eddy current body, wherein N=1, 2, 3, . . . and M detector coils, wherein M=1, 2, 3, 4, . . . and each detector coil includes an axis and detects changes of an interior magnetic field within the N magnets that are caused by an acceleration of the eddy current body and a resulting change in eddy currents. The axis is approximately perpendicular with respect to the surface of the eddy current body, each detector coil lacks a ferromagnetic core and the N magnets and the M detector coils are arranged alternatingly next to each other in a direction that the acceleration is to be measured.

A system and method for controlling the acceleration of an armature of an electric drive by generating a high quality acceleration error correction signal z, the system comprising an accelerometer for obtaining a measured armature acceleration value b , which is equal to the product of a true armature acceleration &agr;, and an acceleration measurement transfer function F (p), and means for obtaining a measured acceleration signal, b m, which is generated from a measured substitute acceleration signal b &middot;b and b m are scaled such that the relationship of b &equals;&agr;&middot;F (p)&equals;b &middot;F (p) is satisfied. The measured armature acceleration signal b is filtered with a first filter transfer function of F (p), and the measured acceleration signal b is filtered with a second filter transfer function of F (p). The first and second filter outputs are combined to form the partly synthesized high quality acceleration error correction signal z&equals;b &middot;F (p)&plus;b &middot;F (p).
